So after bending a few of my valves, I though it would be a little easier to go get a CA18DE head off a pulsar in one of the junkyards. And use that head while I get the DET head rebuilt with good stuff.

So I found 2 Pulsars, one guy wanted 200 bucks for the head and wouldnt come down on the price so I left. The other guy wanted 80 bucks down from a 100. So I was trying to pull the head and had all the head bolts off and the damn thing wouldnt lift up.

The car was sitting on the ground still and I couldnt see if there was anything on the back of the motor still holding on to the head

Anyone know whats up with this?

Anyway, since the valve covers were off I noticed some surface rust on the cams and a few parts. Is this head still good? Or can I clean it up a bit and still use it?

Do you have the intake manifold off? If not, there's a bracket running from the manifold down to the block. Shouldn't be anything else besides timing belt and head bolts.

You really won't know if it's good until you get it to a shop and have a pressure test run on it. Hopefully it isn't in the junkyard cause it bent valve ;) It's unlikely a junkyard head will be ready to slap on another motor without a rebuild.

on the ca18det, there is one bolt (10mm head) towards the rear of the head, underneath #3 intake runner, that attaches a metal breather line.If the ca16 is similiar, that bolt will fight u for that head. He'll win too. Must remove the bolt
