Hi,

Any one knows if a wiring harness of a ca18de pulsar will work on an SR20det engine. If it is not, what is difference.

Thank you,

No because the pulsar's are FWD and this means the scensors on the harness are in different places. You need the harness from a ca18det in a 180sx.

Ok, sorry I forgot to say that the sr20det engine is also a fwd, will every thing plug the same, injectors, throthle body, ideal sensor, cas, etc...if using a ca18de wiring harness of a fwd pulsar

Thank you,

Oh then I have no clue...And also, i meant to say you needed a harness from a silvia sr20det, not a ca18det...but even there, i dont know, you may be able to use the ca harness on the sr engine...But Im guessing you might be able to get it to work seeing on how I got my engine to turn over and get spark out of my engine(ca18det) from using the ka24e harness...But im getting a ca18det harness and ignitor just to be safe...

How did you get spark when it need an ign chip and the plug that goes to the coil packs has no where to connect to on the KA harness.

Yeah, my buddy and I got spark out of it somehow, but all 4 sparked at the same time...And with a 4 cylinder they have to spark 2 at a time at seperate times.

Yea, I've heard the same story. Something doesn't work out with the ignition module or something.

And if you have no idea of what to do, then it will get worse. If I was going to put a CA18DET into a U.S. 240, but didn't have the wire harness, ecu, and ignitor, I would just get the harness out of pulsar SE and have the ecu reprogrammed for bigger injectors, MAF, blah, blah. I hear too many people searching for wire harness and ecu and paying some good money for an other wise stock set up.

If only it were that easy...Pulsar harness and ecu wont work on the ca18det from a 180sx in japan...Different layout, scenors in harness are in different places but i dont know about that pulsar ecu, im guessing it wouldnt work either though. The only thing from a pulsar you can use on the swap is the ignitor. Oh and float, yeah, me and my friends are pretty sure thats what it was.

Thats what I figured. Personally, I'd say get a harness and ecu, or get a standalone. I would base that decision on what your future plans for power are.

[/quote] I'll share this with you, I own 2 1990 nissan sentras (the old square B12 models) and I took a U.S. pulsar motor (CA16DE) and wired it into my car, got tired of it and wired in a CA18DE, got tired of it and took the same pulsar harness and wired it my JDM CA18DET. Now, how good are your wiring skills, I don't know. But it's definitely not impossible to wire a pulsar harness into a U.S 240sx via nissan pulsar SE's harness. Wiring nissan vehicles is my thing and if I had to do something like this, it would be just another wiring job as opposed to being a project. But if you don't have the skills, then by all means use the JDM stuff.

i had the ca18det harness, but it needed to be lengthened because of the whole ecu on the other side thing. with some good wiring skills (i found out mine had gone awry yesterday) and a fsm from both cars and the necessary connectors, i can see making one out of any harness as long as you had enough wire.

instead of just making the harness longer, my dad and i just decided to re-wire it all with the connectors in their proper positions. all the shops that have seen it have complemented on how it looks like it came wired from the factory. it wasnt hard, but it was time consuming. by all means, if you are having doubts, just lengthen the jdm harness.
