I just put ym pulsar back on the road. Refurbishe dthe enterior now working on the motor. Its been running relaly ruff. I just assummed it was bad gas (2 years of sitting with "some" stabilizer"

I put in 94 with some fuel cleaner stuff. Ran way better but it still has a hard time when starting.

When tis cold, it revs like it has crazy overlapping cams. Once it gets warm, idles tapper up from 600-800 to 1100 and stops missing. The idle hunts however.

Now, when driving around and trying to keep a constant speed or just accel really slowly (pulling out) It more often then not just cuts out and bucks. If I am in neutral and hold the revs at ~2-3k, they's just drop to idle all of a sudden until I tap the gas again.

I used to own an rx7 and this seems like a tps problem, but I'm unsure on how to adjust it/check it other then pull some codes.

I'll try and pull some codes later tonight (will have to look it up again)

Just looking for idea/inputs so I can snag this in the bud and focus on other stuff like my hunt for a ca18det (may have found one :P). I was relying on this to be my DD since I sold my 7.... turns out my 7 was more reliable haha.

Ooohhh rotaries.

Also noticed that it doesn't rev up as fast as I though it would... I'll do a huge tuneup and see if that changes.

I think you might be on the right track with your TPS theory. When the TPS is in it's idle position the ECU switches to a timing map specifically for Idle/Neutral revving. In the mid to upper rev range this map has timing values that are several degrees higher than what's on the regular timing map so if the TPS is flicking randomly between Idle, and not idle that could very well be causing the bucking you're experiencing as well as idle problems.

Pull the codes and check the fsm pg. EF & EC 98 for the diagnosis procedure.

It is a TPS problem. Check the wiring, plug and ECU LED pattern (as described in the FSM). They can be had at a parts house for about $55USD.

TPS was EXTREMELY out of adjustment. ECU kept trying to drop the revs under light load or cruising. After I adjusted it nearly all ym problems went away.

Check the ECU for some error codes, all I have is 13, temp sensor. Checked it out... its so corodded that the plug cna't make a good connection. I'll just buy another.

No new tps needed, just an adjustment, thanks guys for your insight

Glad it worked out for ya. My TPS did the same thing when the plug was ever so slightly loose.
