I'm sure this has been discussed before, but whatever. I was thinking the other day about a swap, and was trying to figure out which one would be the easiest if myself and friends were gonna do the swap ourselves. also, with the ca18 being in the early s13's, if one were to do the swap on an 89, do the power steering lines still need to be re-routed?

if anyone wants to go in depth that would be cool

if you're swapping a CA into a 89-90, then you don't have to worry about that. Swapping a SR into a 89-90, however, wouldn't be that difficult. All you need is some lines from a 89-90. Going the CA route in a 89-90 is the cheapest way you can turbocharge your 240.

why would he not have to worry about the power steering lines when swapping a CA? The CA power steering setup is the same as the DOHC Ka and the Sr. If you swap an Sr in, you need the lines from a 91-94 DOHC

The CA vs SR thing has been discussed in depth on this and other forums. Do a search. Basically, it comes down to power/performance goals and personal preference.

The CA is a potent engine. Its biggest weakness (to a point) is the rod bearings. I chose the CA for the sole reason that SRs are getting extremely common, and I wanted to be different. A clean CA motorset can be had for ~$1000 and a slip for ~$1200. Good luck and have fun!

PS: I think the CA looks cooler

Beautiful...

Does the CA fit into an s14 with no problems?
