Allright... finally got around to getting my swap pictures uploaded... I've got tons of pictures about things people have asked about (running coolant lines on a DE motor, SR downpipe fitting, etc... but these are just the swap pictures now. Too tired to upload more tonight:))

enjoy!

lol... the guys at work were like, where'd you find a green top motor? I've only heard of red and black top silvia motors... I had to bust out the breaker bar and bash some skulls after that :rolleyes

and just because my car is hot, here's a picture of the finished product :pface

Sickly, but nicely done Sean! I love the flavor, but why in the hell did you go out of your way to hook-up those worthless coolant lines? Anyways, the car/engine is crisp in my eyes and I like it.

Quote »I assume you are refering to the heater lines?[/quote] I'm referring more to the coolant lines on the turbocharger. They are an interference item and will make removing and installing this puny hairdryer rediculously hard. So what I do for my customers is block them off and they all are living happily ever after.

i might just be the one to go and paint my valve covers hot pink..this weekend. it sounds like it would be too priceless to pass up.

dee, i think i should go ahead and get those injectors from you. let me know how i should pay you for them. i can put them in next week and correct with the safcII until i get an EMS. shouldnt be long now, but i think it would be a good idea to get the injectors in case i run into complications with my clutch/flywheel thing this weekend.

sean, your car owns. that green valve cover looks peeee-ump. if it runs as well as it looks ill bet its fun as hell.

lol, it wasn't too hard... and I really didn't know how it would respond with no water cooling? It isn't bad (long term) for the turbo? Anyhow, here's how I rigged it:)

1.) Here's where the line would curve into the DET block... but there's no hole in my block there:( We improvised with this fitting:

2.)That line wraps around the back of the head following the same path the other coolant line does, and its tee'd into the heater hose line:

3.) Here you can see both heater hose lines, and how it all goes together:

thats pretty nice! dont know if it was worth it, but i think i would definately keep it if i put that much work into it.

your engine looks so clean going in that it makes me feel bad! you could eat off of it and it would probably sterilize(sp?) your tongue! oh, before i forget, how do i go about removing the front bumper cover? i know youve got the newer front but im guessing they would go on about the same. i took a stab at it once before but i think i was missing some bolts and it didnt want to come off. ive gotta put on a front mount intercooler this weekend and figured i'd ask before i ruined something. thanks!

also thought i'd let you know that your car is the background on my laptop. ive got the picture youve got in your sig. on it. (have all the others saved on it too, hehe)

The ONLY time the coolant lines really do anything is after the car has been shut off. The heat from the turbo heats up the coolant, which rises, which draws cooler coolant (say that 10 times fast) up into the turbo, which is then heated, which then rises, yada, yada, yada. As long as you give the motor a proper cool downtime (idle for 30sec - a few min.) There is no reason for them. The only time they do anything is after the car is shut off, otherwise the oil cools the turbo.

He had idle prob. for a few days, but I think he's got it all worked out now. Course I'm not him, so I'm not 100% sure. But if I was him, I'd use his body and go molest a 350Z, and then give it back to him.

well, it was running excellent on the sidemount for the last couple of days, but I just installed the fmic I bought. We ran out of time to really finish it up tonight, so there are pin-hole leaks that suck:( and I have a test this week, so it will have to wait till the weekend! is there any long-term negative effects of running this thing with afew tiny leaks? I guess I could throw the sidemount back on there till Saturday.

but other than that, the car runs like a champ! I'm very pleased:) Pictures of our fmic mounting coming in afew minutes...

removing the old sidemount and piping...

bumper removed... cutting up u-bends and aligning everything:

chopsaw!

welding at its finest... me holding the ground, and no-one wearing masks!

Timmy cleaning up the welds:

Final product... I'll have more piping pictures when we clean it up some more:)

like I said earlier, there are pin-hole leaks and no-bov, but its driveable until I can fix the little problems. Oh and the cold pipe was ice cold on the way home:) I feel better now

TIMMY ROCKS! :ylsuper thanks to both Kelvin, Kevin, and Timmy for all your help in my swap! couldn't have done it without you guys!

Don't you love the feeling of the coldpipe sean? It was great in November or so for mine, cuz it was still warm enough that I could run hard and heat the hotpipe up, but the air was cold enough that I was getting condensation on the coldpipe. Intercoolers rock!
