Hmmm, this might be a better one for the Z section. AFAIK, nobody here has done it. I would think that the CA18 would weigh considerably less than the L24. It would probabally mess up your weight distribution for the worse. It would be fun though! I might go for a RB series in one though. Now THAT would be a blast!

thanks for you replies..you see, i really wanted an original 6 banger but in my country, its so seldom to find one..though there are some rb's that i found when i was scouting...but my dilemma is i needed a good,a little economical, yet powerful engine.fuel prices are soaring high here! and i dont think its a good thing to drive my would-be daily Z car with a 6-banger rb's or L series...though that would be very very fun! so i have to settle with this little CA18.. can i ask, why so less favored with the good ol CA18? is it not that highly competitive with regards to rb-20?or maybe sr-20?what i know,ca's do good job as well...i just hope its not a waste when i'm done converting it..thanks guys!....but please..more insights sir?

also, may i know the exact weight of the CA18 det? i am trying to compare it with the 270lbs L24 engine..if theres just a little margin, then it can be resolved....and also,do we really need theblow-off valves for its turbo?if so, what should i get? thanks again sir!

good to see another CA in the great mighty Datsuns!that would look rather small in the ol Z's engine bay!thing I'd be worried about is making enough torque outta the CA18 for the bigger Z.....got any pics?Never heard of CA's in Z's before either....

if you want fuel economy.....why not put a A12 in there?....hehehe

well, to be honest. if the l24 engine only weighs 270lbs, then i dont think your weight distribution would be off much at all. i know the sr with the transmission and everything attached weighs about 490ish (? i know its something ninety) lbs. if the ca weights about 45lbs less (approx), that would make it 455 with the transmission. that trannt doesnt weigh very much. im tiny and can lift it myself. its probably close to 300lbs with just the engine. though i could be drastically wrong. (and probably am, but i dont care).

good to see someone with something new on the ca forum. welcome and good luck! i cant wait to see some pictures, ill bet it looks awesome.

thanks for your comment tim..unfortunately,i still have no idea of how much weight the trannys of ca's and L24..but i dont think there would be a big margin outta that..anyway, i gotta go back to the garage and start working on my car again..shucks! the hardship of a passion! more suggestions please! btw, advance happy holidays!!
