i was driving in 4th gear... and my water pump blew and a rod shot threw the oil pan..

my steering and breaks died.. so i had to take an offramp going pretty fast with no breaks.

bye bye engine.. heh.

anyone here have experience with tomei engines? i was thinking of getting a friend to pickup a ca18 in japan and send it off to tomei for me.. is it worht the cost for the phase 1 engine?

thanks

It's not that easy to get a Tomei engine. I honestly doubt your friend could get one.

On the other hand. Why not rebuild the engine stateside? If you need Tomei CA parts we can order them for you. ( SPL Parts - http://www.splparts.com )

You got to be fkin kiddin me, damn!! I've had waterpumps go on 2 of my old cars while on the road but never threw a rod, I pulled over let the car cool down and added water/coolant then took it home. There must of been some other kind of failure. My dad threw a rod from the side of the block on his Porsche 924S, you could stick your whole hand in there.

not the first engine i heard of doing this:rolleyes ... the motor i got from venus had a hole the size of my fist in the oil pan where the rod got thrown. sorry to hear about this man, and good luck with that tomei stuff. that would be a sick motor.

Driving too hard on an already ailing motor will almost always produce catastrophic results. I'm pretty sure this motor warned you, but if you ignored it then, I'm pretty sure it got your attention now.

boost_boy, i was acctualy driving it to the garage to get it fixed...

it was a toss up in my head to remove my front bodykit + lights and intercooler etc to tow it there..

i choose to drive it, i ended up having to take the front end off to tow the dead thing away anyways.. heh

oh well
