I've read several posts about the CA16DE intake cam upgrade for the DET, so I looked it up in Nissan Fast...87-89 CA16DE/CA18DE used the same intake came here in the USA...so does that mean that any intake cam out of the Pulsar SE's is an upgrade for the DET? Just looking for some clarification. Thanks guys.

i believe the stocker is 242 duration 7.8mm lift and the ca16 is 248 duration 8.5mm lift. i dont know, the durations might be the same, but the lift is higher on the ca16. its just like running two ca18 exhaust cams.

Okay, so the CA18DE and the CA16DE use the EXACT SAME intake cam here in the US, so that was my question, the US Ca16DE cam is the upgrade for the DET?

yeah, its a pretty pathetic upgrade but i went ahead and did it because a member on here gave me a set of ca16 cams for free. im actually using ca16 cams all round, and have my ca18 set as a backup in case something terrible happens.

According to my CA16 and CA18 FSM the duration and lift are the same. The ramps might have a different profile but they are basically the same thing.

That actually works. I did it on my RB20 and picked up some top-end power. I picked up the trick from a 4AG guy

lengthy dicussion/s on sxoc on using the ca16 inlet and the ca18 exhaust cam. Timing gear adjustment was need for correct "time" using the 18 exh cam on the intake side.TMS did u drop in "straight in".... if not what degree offset ?

I did it on an RB and it dropped in, I also slowly rotated the engine by hand to ensure there was no valves kissing piston. That was my younger days though, not really a certain way to check it, I would suggest you degree it to be sure. I'll risk my **** on my goofy ideas, please second guess me when it is your stuff.

okay, so should I just buy some 256 hks cams or should I get the 264's?I dont plan on running anything bigger than a GT2871 or GT28RS. Probably start out with a smaller turbo like a T25 or T28 off SR's.

that totally depends on how you want your powerband set up. you also need to consider what lift you are going to want. i would suggest reading up on it a good bit before you make any decisions.

With those turbo's power levels you MIGHT see 5-10hp with the cams. That's a lot of money to spend for not much power gains.

The UK guys pretty much agree that the stockers are fine up to 300-350hp.
