I've read in a few places that the intake cam from the CA16DE is a lot more aggressive than the stock CA18DET one (245 degrees vs. 240 and almost 1mm more lift!!!)Has anyone swapped one of these into their motor and seen results?

Is it really just a direct swap? No replacement springs needed due to higher lift?

yes, it is a direct swap. i havnt heard anything about it being much more agressive but i did notice that it was a little harder to put in. i cant tell you what it did performance wise since my engine isnt in the car yet but ill be sure to let you know when i do.

Hi,

Yes they are direct fit, theoratically they should give you bit more power, but I installed mine and I can honestly say, I didn't notice any hp increase.

If you are getting the cams for free or for cheap price, then go for it and install them, But if you are paying some good money for them, then you might put that money towards much more agressive aftermaket cams.It all depends what kind of hp you are looking to achieve.Good luck,

Rafi

Most people I've heard that have actually done it said that they didn't really notice much of a difference, if any at all. As Rafi said, if you're getting hooked up with them, then sure, but if you are going to have to pay any sort of real money for them, don't bother.

I fitted one into my old car, and it must have done something it made the car run a bit leaner, so I upped the fuel, I fitted it into a head that I mildly ported and got a healthy 282ft lbs @ 16psi.
