I heard about swapping ca16 cams into ca18det for more power. I could not find any information on this. I know the ca16 cams come from the pulsar. Anyone know the specs on ca18det cams and ca16 cams. Thanks. -Ted

the intake cam on the ca18 is a shorter lift than the ca16 cam (which is the same as the ca18 exhaust cam). the only people who see a big improvement are the people in europe as they had the ca16 with some more aggressive cams. you may see a few horsepower by switching to the ca16 intake cam, but nothing to make it really worth it. i know, ive got some in my car. i only did it because they were free.

in the US, the CA16 cams are identical to the CA18, by the part #'s anyways.

The only place I've ever found where there was a difference was europe, on the non pollution controlled versions of a Sunny or some other FWD CA car there.

well, i read that the us market ca16 had a very slightly higher lift, but nothing you would notice. i think the ca18 intake cam is 7.8mm and the ca16 is 8.5, like the ca18 exhaust cam. either way, its not worth the trouble.

Thanks for the info guys. Someone did the ca16 swap on zilvia. I just wanted to see what the improvements were. Looks like I won't be doing this mod with this info. Thanks.

keep your DET cams as the aspirrated units aren't worth the amount of work.
