I was told that if you install the ca16de camshaft on the ca18det it will increase horse power by around 20-25hp, due to the length of duration that the ca16de cams generate. while the ca18det has much short duration, if this is true is it safe to do such a swap.

Thank you,

Rafi

do these cams "bolt" right up or is there modification required in order for them to work. also, would you rather go with these or go for an aftermarket set of cams......im talking about powerwise, not how much money they cost. which offers the most power?

The cams go in.

Obviously these are purchased solely because of the money they cost, if aftermarket cams, which are much better, cost the same then they would be the better mod....

I'm using the CA16 camshafts on my CA18DET and I can't say how awesome they are for a damn cheap price!! They bolt straight on with NO modifications required! If you're going to do it, you might as well change the timing belt for another 40 bux while you're at it.

Guys don't even bother replying to dan240sx cuz I bet you it's just some guy that took the REAL dan240sx username just to piss everybody off, well that is if you let him get to you.

Back on topic, you only need the intake cam cuz that's the cam that has the higher valve lift. If you have both intake and exhaust cam, then use them both.

the intake cam is the big HP adder, it has more lift and duration (stock lift is like 240 the 1.6 cam is 248) The exhaust cam only has a slight bit more duration. So if you have them allready use them both, if not just buy the intake and save your money for the timing belt.
