Ok so I was driving my car for the first time since I got the engine running well. Drove about 15 miles with no problems. Then when I pulled into the mall parking lot the temp pegged out instantly from normal operating temp. I immediately pulled into a spot cut the car off, and let the electric fan run for 2 min. Then went into the mall for about 20 minutes. When I got back the car was still a bit warm, but was in the safe zone. I drove it 1/2 a mile and turned it off again to go get some food. Then 30 or so min. later i went back out and the car started, but was idling really awful for about 5 seconds and would die. Then it wouldn't even do that. It just makes like a poof sound when it tries to start. Like you were nocking the wind out of someone. any ideas? I swear this car hates me. After owning it so long it still gives me crap.

start with the basics.Temp suddenly shot up could be a faulty gauge or,,,,,your head gasket popped and combustion gasses pressurized your cooling system. It doesn't sound like the engine was loaded when the temp did that so I am thinking bad gauge wiring. Nevertheless look in the radiator for coolant level and any milky deposits which would indicate oil in the water jacket likely caused by a gasket.

Check your big three, air, fuel, spark. Confirm your AFM is connected and there are no leaks in the pipetract. I don't think it's this but be thorough and check anyway. Are your injector ticking when you crank the motor, do you have pressure at the rail? I don't think is this either but eliminate it for sure by checking.Plugs feeling sparky? That's what I think it is. My car did this once. When the engine reached operating temperature it would die within minutes. I replaced the plugs and all was well. Check all vacuum hoses, all electrical connections, everything. Mine started chugging the other day running on three and I found a lose injector plug, it went away. Recently I am having trouble starting the thing, yhink my pump is dieing. Good luck with yours.

So I am retarded. It was a blown fuel pump fuse. I was so mad when it died I didn't even think to check it. As far as the temp thing I haven't seen it do it again. Thanks for the input though TMS. Car seems to be running well now.
