My Ca18det swap is finally done. Idles a little off, I set ignition timing and for some reason the car bogs and spits around 5500rpm. Power curve feels consistent all the way to 5500, but then it spits and backfires and power falls off untill i go back to a lower rpm.

Wondering if its coil plugs, grounding, or maybe vacuum related. I just need a direction to go in.

it's possible that you have hooked up the vaccuum lines to the power valve wrong.

I tried a lot of combinations back when there was no information on them around.

I found you could put it together so the vaccuum would close them and they would stay closed.

Otherwise it's probably fuel related.

US swap guides tell us to can all that stuff. I herd you didn't need that for the car to run. I just have a a T going to the fuel pressure reg. and butterfly valve.

The problem is inconsistent while idling in my drive way. Some times I will hit the gas and it will rev all the way to 6500 no prob. Other times 3500 it bogs and falls off.

Although when Im driving it, it never makes it past 3500. Still I hear the turbo spool and surge.

I have the same problem for a while. I have FMIC, DSM 450cc inj., walbro fuel pump, z32 maf, hks intake and hks 3" exhaust piping, and re-mapped ecu. Sometimes the car hits the redline at all gears without problem, but sometimes especially when it's cold outside, it wont rev past 5500.I also added a video on youtube. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7-b8iaquuXo

I'll be glad to know what this idiot problem is

sounds like an ignitor problem to me. Do you have it over by the exhaust?

The ignitor is a device that takes the ignition signal from the ECU, amplifies it, and then sends it to the coils. It's not uncommon for this to fail, causing mis-fires and other problems.
