^haha

ddg, could you do a write up on the not so common engine swaps? Like 2jz, lsx, etc? It would be a good, informative read since I don't have the money for those swaps...

Is that your lame attempt at humor?

For the record I know that those 2 swaps aren't that much money per say, however alot of people don't realize nor are capable of performing the extensive modification/fabrication it requires to install some of those more exotic swaps.

Since you can't afford it why do you care? A$$ Hat!

awsome. But now we need a thread like this about "what should I do to my car next" or "how/where do I drift" or " how to: photoshop"

truely awesome contribution, rather than those who ask mods to ban newbies' SR20 vs KA20 threads. One request though, since you already mention about weight and iron block for CA18, I wonder if you can find the actual weights and block info for each engines? It would be awesome if you do and truely make this a sticky!

I see where you are going with this but if I were to include all aspects of every engine my article would be like 3 pages long. I can tell you that the difference between the KA/SR/CA weights is less than 50 lbs. You can go to each respective engine forum for more specific information, sorry I can't do all the work for you, if I did I would have to start charging by the hour.

heres the deal: to change this to article format would basically necessitate an entire rewrite, so i have started something that will fit better in Nico's tech pages.

You would get a custom title if you didnt already have one.

i cant sticky this (as a matter of fact, its time to clean up some stickies!) but you can link it in your sig for more views.

thanks.

I would like my custom title changed to Thread Jacker!! lol

Seriously though what's wrong with the format? If there is anything I can do to help let me know, I have the article saved on MS Word if that helps? I can email it to you so you can do what you need with it.

its nbd man, most of the info is already compiled. if you can fill in some blanks, provide decent pics of mostly stock motors it would be greatly appreciated.

here it is so far, about 50% finished?

zerothread/277672

the format we will be using for the article is basically like an outline, there is no room for personal commentary. the information is more accessible this way. you know how short the average Nico member with a 240's attention span is; if its not right in front of them in bold-face they wont get it. your thread will be linked from teh article, though

no worries, though. your custom title has been changed and your thread remains a good source of info.

good, informative post. i agree with d!ck in that pictures are a thousand words so though u may talk of said engines, the noobs that need to read this should see what they look like cuz they might purchase a KA off ebay that's advertised as an SR. also i think that dyno sheets for any of these engines in stock format would also compliment the tech article d!ck. Would give future "swappers" a realistic approach to how much power they will be receiving after the transplant. Last but not least, i'd say have only NICO sponsors in the tech article while the other sites should be left alone in the thread.....................

dyno sheets may be going a bit too far:

1. noobs cant really understand what they are looking at aside from where the peaks are, and hte peak HP and TQ are included and very visible in the article.

2. if you can get dynos for them, by all means post them up here. anything will help

Ok, I'm in the process of compiling pics and ran across this site... http://www.meggala.com/nissanrb3css.htm

I already added it to my article but I'm thinkin we can use it in other places as well.

Real quick I was looking at the link you gave me for the tech thread and I was reading about parts needed for the S13-S15 SR swap and it says you need a driveshaft. Technically you re-use the one from your own car so how is that needed. Also on the S14 it says (custom) next to driveshaft, you only need a custom one if you plan on running the 6 speed but that's if you can't get the S15 one anyway.

By the way here are the photos.... some of them are ehh, but if you can find or have better ones feel free to substitute them.

s14 and s15 turbos are pretty much the same, the only exception is the s15 turbo has a cast divider in the turbine housing and has a inconel turbine wheel. s14 boosts 7 psi stock to make 220hp while the s15 boosts 10psi stock to make 250hp.
