I got my CA mounts in today and took some pics. In these pics the left mount is KA, the right mount is CA:

The difference is perhaps a little exaggerated by the pics as it comes out to around 1/4 - 1/3 of an inch but its there and the CA mounts come in as the shorter ones.

yeah but I've been looking at pictures of japanese cars with ca18det, and they all have that characteristic slant to them, same as mine using the usdm mounts. So I can't imagine that the pracitcal difference is too great, is it? Take some before and after pics of the install. But I'm just saying the main reason I'd be interested in the ca mounts is to 1) use an STB and 2) make my friends stop asking me why my engine sits to one side. The wierd thing is that my oilpan sit pretty much level with the chassis. So I think the ca18 ones must just be a bit shorter than stock, and not correct the slant of the engine?

The CA should have more slant than KA/SR mounts give them, w/ those its almost not slanted at all.

In my JDM CA FSM it has a diagram showing the slant and its huge, like 15-20 degrees or so in the diagram, ala 'slant-six'.

with the CA specific STB and SR mounts it barely clears the STB:

Both mounts look shorter, so the slant would remain but the engine would sit lower. This may add enough clearance for an STB; I haven't seen just how close the tolerance is with an STB and a CA.

If you want to get rid of our lovely ghetto lean perhaps you could mix the CA and KA mounts. Its honestly how the engine is supposed to sit so I don't know what you'd be accomplishing other than raising (and slightly shifting to one side) the center of gravity. Well, and answering less questions from onlookers.

the motor is supposed to slant. It lower the center of gravity, giving you better handling. I have personally had NISMO KA/SR mounts on my CA, and I now have the CA specific mounts, and there IS A VERY NOTICEABLE DIFFERENCE! I don't think the angle changes a lot (it does lean it a little more) but the engine sits considerably lower in the engine bay. My STB still won't clear, but it was a cheapie, so I'm not suprised.

The mounts on one side are significantly shorter, from your images you posted, redamnavit. And the JDM FSM shows the engine being alot more slanted, so ..

This is how mine looked the day I brought it homeSo it's pretty slanted, i haven't really seen too many pics of it in a USDM car though

mine's got that gangsta lean going on its much more slanted than any of the other CA's around town (they're using KA mounts). These are the stock CA mounts that came with the motorset because they were in good condition.

guys.. can everyone measure the thickness of their mounts and post them. One way to clear this up with facts. To start .. I have a set of URAS mounts specified for both the sr and ca:left 68mm, right 63mm. These mounts apparently lower the engine by 10mm.
