everything worked fine in my 5 speed coupe but I swapped into my automatic convertible and I can't get the engine to start. I wired the park plug so it cranks over but it wont' start. the fuel pump isn't turning on and it isn't getting voltage at the pump, the fuse, or the relay. I even tested the trigger wire (black with purple stripe) off the ecu and its not putting out any current. did I somehow fry the ECU? I'm going to try hardwiring the fuel pump soon to see if its just the pump keeping it from starting. I have an extra rom tuned ecu but I'd have to put in new injectors and a mafs to get it going with the program in it now, and I want to keep my variables down so I can figure out what is wrong! moreover, if I did fry the ecu I need to find out why so I can correct it to prevent the same from happening with the new one.

it wasn't starting before this happened, but:a stupid friend of a friend tried to jumpstart it by connecting the negative of his car to my positive and vice versa... I grabbed the cables and yanked them off as soon as I noticed (my positive was covered in a bright red boot but he argued with me that it was the negative...)

well if anyone has ideas I'm open... like I said, same swap, everything was the same, just pulled it from one car and dropped it in the other, but now it crancks but won't start!

ok I hard wired the fuel pump. If I haven't started it for a while it turns over and runs for about 3 seconds when I first turn it over, then it dies and nothing will make it run again. I found and fixed without changing anything:o2 sensor unpluggedswitch on top of intake manifold unplugged.. FCsomethingor another according to FSMidle air hose was unhooked, hooked it back up.

its pretty weird, any suggestions?

I switched the ECU over to diagnostics mode but nothing happened. Seems like it isn't getting power. Could the ECU not get power and the engine still crank over and everything? If so what fuses do I check, what wire does power come in on, etc?

attaching the cables to the wrong posts can have detrimental effects all over the car. A guy i work with ended up spending several hundred dollars replacing all his relays and his ecu in one of his cars after hooking up cables the wrong way.

there is a power wire for the ecu that you could check to make sure it is being supplied power (#49 and 59)

ecu pinout1ecu pinout2ecu pinout3ecu pinout4

Do you have a FSM to follow for no start diagnosis?

yeah I followed all the FSM **** and when I got to the diagnostic point I pull the ecu to check the codes and it didn't work at all, no lights etc. so I took it out and took the covers off to check for burnt circuits or anything, and accidentally dropped it from a considerable height, put it back together, reinstalled it, and now it works fine. go figure.

just glad to finally get it running again.
