I don't think anyone here took their cars to shops to have the installs done... we're kinda cheap a$$es:pface with $3k I'm sure thats reasonable for a good CA motorset and install. Hell, I'd install it for a grand :), and motorsets are under $1500.

But seriously, I'm sure if any of us are in your area (where are you?) we'd be glad to swing and help for pizza or beer or something! I know I would, and the guys here in Orlando help each other out all the time with car stuff. Oh and welcome to the CA forums!

yes, we here on he ca forum tend to be much, much more awesome than everyone else on nico. we pride ourselves on being the coolest people ever for merely having made the right choice when looking for an engine. we're all like indiana jones in "the last crusade" when the keeper of the holy grail says "you have chosen...wisely".

Actually mine was in a shop. I dont have the resources or space to do it in the garage plus I was moving to dallas at the same time.

I cant say how much a swap would be though since I had a big hook up by a shady *** shop (Dee knows the shop im talking about).

ahh yeah I completly forgot about you Korey :) lazy bum... j/k but I suppose if you don't have a place to do the swap that might require a shop doing the install. Expect to pay about the same as an SR swap, if anything slightly less because the wiring is alot easier!

Hey imma professional bum lmao. Yeh it should be around the same price as an SR swap, but if its like alot of shops theyll say the CA cost more since they dont do the swaps often.

With $3k you might be able to get the motor swapped in at a shop, but everything will be completely stock. If you do it yourself, and shop for bargains, you can prolly get a walbro fuel pump, manual boost controller, gauges, slightly better clutch, maybe some new gaskets/seals/belts, and good fluids (redline). Either way, you're looking at a pretty much stock setup.

Where are you located?

Swap to include wiring, I usually charge $1000. Motorsets are like anywhere between $1200-$1800 (depending on where you buy them at) and add about $350-$550 for custom intercooler piping and you will want a FMIC with this motor. ANd if you wan tthe good stuff, I have the prescription because I'm cleaning out my closets. And yes Korey, I know which Pro-Tec-nical shop you're referring to.

I would totally do mine if I could get some air tools, a lift, and my electrical engineering major buddy and my mechanical engineering roommate to help. Silvia Werks in Katy, Tx is doing mine. Too bad that no one is close enough to me to come help:( Other than my BOV and igniter (in the mail), she be ready to get stuck in.

Oh, duh, SW is doing it for $1000 + the custom hotpipe and little other things that I need. The total cost is going to be around $3k for the whole shebang (inccluding shipping the motor set to my door, upgraded parts, and install)

Motors will be in sometime next month, but as for the leads, they are not saying too much. All I do know that he was shot 8 times in the chest area and for seemingly no reason.

good god that would suck! oh and dee, if you havnt read either of my threads, im not going to be able to go through with my plans for an engine management system. i will however try and send you money for the injectors when i get home as im going to need them regardless. does anyone know where i can buy clevite or acl bearings for the CA in the united states? i kinda need some..NOW.

frank, as for doing the swap, i'd be glad to help if im up there any time soon. ive got someone im dying to see up in pennsylvania and theyve got the necessary tools to do everything with cars. (her dad is a racer and their garage has several full sets of snap-on tools and 3 hydraulic lifts..be nice to do it there, eh?

lol I just bought a set of supposedly standard size CA clevite bearings off ebay, was like $33 shipped..

FYI assuming these are the right bearings, this is the #'s on the package:MS-1565 P (BIG)7012M (small)

it's made in Japan :D

URL to the old auction http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...:MT:1

altho its just a one time thing they had them apparently, so you'll have to look elsewhere for your bearings :/

They've got high performance bearings made by TOGA. Good company. Should be easy to get.

ive looked at the toga bearings, but i have never really heard much about them before and i'm a little skeptical.. i know clevite or acl bearings are good for it, and i dont have the money for power enterprise f1 black bearings at this time so i figured i would go with what i knew. ive found the clevite bearings in australia and the UK but would like to order them from somewhere closer so i can get the car on the road asap.

dee, (or anyone who makes them or sells them for that matter) how much would you reckon you could get me an equal length exhaust manifold with a t3 flange for? and what are the specs on the t3/t04 unit youre always raving about being a good match for the ca? i think im gonna do that this time around.

if you want clevite's, find a clevite dealer and order bearings for a CA18DE or CA18ET etc..

I just used Federal Mogul bearings. They work fine so far, and actually looked to be better quality than OE bearings.
