I know that the SR trans can be adapted to the CA with a CA bellhousing, I was just wondering if the one used in the USDM RWD 200SX could be used.

kind of... its shorter by afew inches. search for "CA18ET transmission", someone tried using it in an s13, but the shifter was in the wrong place... might work well in your 510 though:)

Are the bellhousings between the USDM/JDM RWD CA's any different?Would it bolt up to the SR trans?:D

ahh good question... I was discussing this with Kevin (Nismo1182) last week sometime, and we said we should test it out... we have a CA18ET transmission, and a CA18DET transmission we should compare the two! If no one else knows, I might be able to get to that this weekend sometime:)

very good idea, don't only make sure the engine-side is the same but also take off the housings and see if they interchange if you can?

If so, then a cheap solution for people needing gearboxes would be getting a bellhousing from a RWD CA18ET and bolting that to a KA / SR transmission

The CAET bellhousing SHOULD bolt to the CADET block, as they actually have basically the same block, just a different head. I would be suprised if it doesn't work.

we're wondering about if the bellhousing will bolt to the different trannies... ie. can you use a CA18ET bellhousing and a KA transmission to make a hybrid CA18DET transmission for really cheap:) I know the CA18ET bellhousing will bolt to the CA18DET block, people have already done that.

How much shorter is the CA18ET trans when compared to the DET?

Any idea as to the overall strength of the ET box?

Oh, well then still yes. If you wanted to use and SR/KA transmission on your CA you'd just swap bellhousings.
