More ridiculousness from our wonderful Democrats in the California State Senate. Voting to spend $3 billion we don't have and refusing to identify where the money will come from. All so they can subsidize electric and plug-in hybrid car sales.

Just another reason I won't vote for anyone from either major party at any level of government.

I wonder how many Texas republicans that refused to vote for Hurricane Sandy relief for NY & NJ residents are going to vote for unpaid billions of dollars for Hurricane Harvey damage?

As for California they are way ahead and smarter than the rest of the nation.

The money will come from raising the gas tax to induce residents to gravitate to electric vehicles.
Similar to the mortgage tax deduction that induces people to buy homes rather than rent.
Similar to solar panels reducing the cost of electricity with government incentives.

The pollution adding to global warming is leading to the demise of fossil fuel vehicles.

I vote in every election.

telco - I vote in every election too. I haven't missed casting a ballot even in a local election since I started voting in 1972.

The problem is these guys are only interested in spending, spending, spending. I realize money grows on trees (it is paper, after all) but our elected officials should not be acting and voting like it does. If the money is going to come from increasing the gas tax again (it was raised recently) they should just say so! They can't agree where it is going to come from so they plan on deficit spending again. That's the reason our "forward looking" state has such financial problems and taxes that are way too high for what we receive in return.

Look, I'm all for helping a good technology get a foothold. The problem in this case is that those electric cars are still using an awful lot of fossil fuels to charge them up. Subsidize solar and wind power for energy production. Don't subsidize electric cars until our power grid eliminates the need for the oil to charge them.

BTW, in case you didn't notice, I drive a hybrid. We bought it used based on the fact that the Gen II Prius is one of the most dependable cars to own and has a very low cost of ownership. No subsidy needed.

Here we go again. The voters turned it down; Jerry Brown and his minions get together with the Obama administration to do an end around the voters and rip off American taxpayers in the process. More "the will of the public be d*mned, we'll do whatever the h*ll we want" by one of the major parties.

Democrats and Republicans need to be driven out of government at all levels.

It's nice to know our elected officials recognized that this pressing issue needed to be addressed immediately and was of greater importance than all the other issues they could be working on in Sacramento.

Even worse is that although the law was initiated by a Democrat the Republicans all jumped on board too. You can bet this one will buried in the numbers and touted as a demonstration of their ability to work in a bipartisan way as they all run for reelection. What we really want to see is them working on education, healthcare, budgets, etc. in a bipartisan way. Not this frivolous garbage.
