CA REF TICKET!! please, people who KNOW, post!!

this has to be one of the most common and all encompassing questions asked in the car enthusiast world (in CA, of course)

every single thread you find on google, on this forum, etc works the following

someone asks because they got a ticket

10 people say: you are screwed, sell your car or put everything back together

89 people say: LOL SARRY MOVE TO NEVADA

1 person says something useful.

WHAT I HAVE HEARD:

if the ticket says "non correctable," eg you have to go to the ref to get it inspected.....

you have 2 options.

go to the ref, fail, kill yourself.

go to the judge, beg, plead, lie, cry, and hope you can get away with a hefty fine.

if the ticket says "correctable"

you can just pay a fine.

DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY REAL ADVICE?

SOMEONE MUST HAVE GONE THROUGH THIS EXPERIENCE!!

ref ticket for what? exhaust? what mods do you have on your car? need more information
