I did a search on this but no help. I'm thinking about getting a S13 with a CA. I did read most of the stickies but not all of it. I was just wondering what is the stock red line on this motor?

The engine red lines at 7k rpm, but you get the peak power at 6800 rpm

The stock rev limit is either 7700 or 7400

IIRC *revlimit* (as opposed to the indicated redline on the CA tach) is actually something crazy like 7700 RPM .. but the only reason to go 7000 or past it would be so that when you upshift you're already in the meat of the powerband.

I was curious and I've had mine up to 7700 and I have yet to hit any rev cut...and thats with an aftermarket tach........I'm assuming its up there somewhere but there is absolutely no point in taking it up that highalthough it is enjoyable to feel the whole car yank 4th geat at like 90 mph (no speedo so I can't say for sure) and just wind it down in 5 seconds.

uk limit is 7000 soft, 7200 hard.

JDM is 7700 hard, I assume 7500 soft.

yeah when the rev cut is just "somewhere up there" I am scared to keep revving, thinking that maybe my motorset doesn't have a revcut and I'll blow the motor... and really there is no advantage to taking it that high, you can shift at 7000 rpm and be in boost in the next gear...

hey, i revved mine to 9k and it didnt phase it. now before you harass me i wasnt trying to, it was an accident. i hit no limiter and the revs were checked using the peak/hold function on the safcII. take that inferior valvetrain SR motors! (though the extra displacement would be nice).

and i was not aware that the ca had a soft cut... of course mine doesnt have one at all so its not like it matters. i had just assumed it had a beast of a hard cut like the auto 4wd xterra has at 95mph.

Dunno, miy motor is jdm and it doesn't cut out at 7500, that would make sense if its a soft cut...my tahc is ka24E (89) and it redlines at 6...lol..

the so called soft cut isn't that. if you are above this "soft cut" for more than 5 seconds, the engine cuts.

If I were any of you, I wouldn't be trying to peg the max limiter on your ecu, tach readings, or whatever. Stock engine, no cams, no head work, stock ecu, be sure and shift no later than 7200rpm. You've been warned !
