I have a couple questions on this CA rebuild I'm working on, and I'd appreciate anyone who can help answer:

1) How/when is the correct/easiest way to install the woodruff key? Before or after installing the the lower timing gear?

2) What's the correct/easiest way to install the lower timing gear? Do I just lube up the crank snout and tap it on with a hammer and a large socket, or should it go on just by hand? Or maybe even get it on there and then install the crank pulley and use that to press it on? I'm really kind of at a loss here.

The key should go on first then slide the timing gear on over it the cranks usually get crapped up so clean is off with some emery cloth or sandpaper. And its what keeps the timing gear from spinning around freely and keeps the engine it time and as long as its clean it should pretty much slide on by hand.
