Well, yesterday I was helping a fellow CA friend swap his CA18ET transmission to a CA18DET transmission on his CA18DET which was an automatic before, hence a CA18ET transmission was used when the shop did the conversion.

To anyone changing an automatic CA to 5 spd, USE A CA18DET transmission!!!! DO NOT USE A CA18ET. Its about 3-4 inches too short and you will have to cut the shifter hole in the chassis a lot bigger towards the radio and ac controls.

His shifter was also ghetto rigged by the shop and he had to have a custom driveshaft made.

Anyway, since we were swapping the trannys we were also going to install a SPEC stage 2 clutch.

I put the disc on with the alignment tool and get ready to put on the pressure plate when I come to find out the flywheel is too small for the pressure plate to bolt on too. Smaller by 3/4" of where the bolts need to be.

I ask my friend what was used for the 5 spd swap parts. He said 88 Pulsar flywheel and clutch.

Ray (Drumma022) checked the SPEC part #'s and its not an SR20 clutch but its definately a CA clutch #.

So I get to thinking and my question is, Is the CA18DE flywheel from the US Pulsars smaller than the DET flywheel?

The DET clutch disc is also bigger in diameter by 1/4"

This is where you come in Sean :D

I need to compare Davids SPEC 2 clutch kit and his old Pulsar clutch to a DET flywheel. Is the DET flywheel you have still off the motor?

The DET flywheel is thicker and heavier than both ca16de and ca18de pulsar, also the clutch is about 1 inch bigger in diameter than the ca18de one. the clutch on the det is the same as the 1990 Nissan Stanza, I have a det flywheel, what kind of measurements are you looking?

If you call SPEC and tell them you need a clutch for a CA18DET, they will have it. Don't tell them a make/model/year. Just tell them you need a clutch for that motor. I went through the runaround with them on this, so I know how it works. And it wasn't anything that they messed up, I was trying to be smarter than they are and it didn't work. After I finally got the correct clutch for mine it bolted right up and I'm very happy with it. The only thing I didn't like about the kit is that it doesn't come with a pilot bearing. Try that, and good luck!

This one came with a pilot bearing ;-)

But is the overall flywheel bigger in diameter, not just in thickness and weight?

The clutch disc is barely 1" bigger. It hangs off the sides of the original pressure plate by 1/4"

If you can get the surface measurements what would be awsome.

Yeah, my flywheel is just sitting on the workbench in my garage:) come over before the meet sometime and we'll compare whatever you need to compare!

ok, here are the measurements of the det flywheel and clutch, flywheel:thickness is 1.5inchDiameter is 11.5inchweight is 26LB

det clutch diameter is 9inchweight is 3 lb

PRESSURE PLATE WEIGHT IS 10LB

Dam the entire thing weights about 52-55lb, that is some serious weight.I got mine replaced and it is identical to a 91 nissan stanza which includes the pilot bearing as well.

You use a pilot bearing? Hmm I don't and never did. I use the FWD CA18DE flywheel (lightened) and a custom clutch set made here locally and it performs beautifully. The AWD flywheel appears to be the same as the RWD, so one may be able to order somthing from the stanza or bluebird.
