I have been browsing this forum for a couple of days, searching for awnsers, and whatnot. I havn't really found what i am looking for. It may be there, i just don't know what to search for maybe.

I recentely got a 90 240sx with a blown head gasket. Me and a friend finally got the head off, and it seems that the block is questionable. I am thinking of just swapping in a CA because they are cheap and i have been hearing good things about them.

Basically i would like to know what basic maitence i should do teh the ca while it is out before i would install it. I assume i would want to change the head gasket, and timing belt. Since i have little money and a stock 240, i plan on keeping the ca stock for awhile, but eventually i want to met like 250WHP out of it. I would like to setup my engine for that now if i will be in the engine anyways.

Also, I understand that getting a used engine is a gamble, and there is a chance i could get a lemon. What bad signs should i look for? Is there a good chance i will have to rebuild the engine, or put alot of money into it to get it reliable at stock settings? $2500 is all i can spen on this engine

First off, welcome to the CA forum. Changing the head gasket and timing belt are a goo idea, you might wanna go head and change your

-thermostat-water pump-belts (ac/ps etc...)-clean your injectors-check/change your seals-spark plugs-check vac lines for tears/cuts-oil filter-fuel filter-(could get)braided lines for turbo-o2 sensor-clutch

I'm sure I prolly forgot some stuff but thats a general idea. Some of that stuff may or may not be faulty when you get your motor just inspect it. Also, when shopping for a motor try and get an uncut harness, maf, ignitor, and dropping ressistors; as they can be a pain in the a$$ to obtain. Goodluck and welcome.
