They obviously gave you the wrong rings because the CA18ET or the CA18DE's pistons will work just fine. What car did you tell them the rings were from? Any good auto parts store should be able to assist you with this dilemma or go to NAPA if you have one close to you.

hmm, they should compress. There is no difference in the sizes for OEM vs. a parts store. I got my rings from advance, and they work great. are you sure its not your ring compressor? I run into problems using the ones you borrow from auto zone because my CA has a little lip at the top of the bore. However, I have found if you ask for a brand new one its really a lot easier. They may have given you some overbore rings my mistake (happened to me when rebuilding a jeep) in which case, they just arent gonna fit. Check and make sure there isnt a sticker over a sticker on the box or something.

Just get some 1988 Nissan pulsar SE rings and call it a day. What application was on the ring package (ie nissan 1809cc, etc)?

HAve you tried sizing them up with the old rings? If they match up, then it's either something you're doing wrong or your ring compressor is faulty. It's also a possiblilty that the wrong rings were placed in the right box.

i tryed two diferant sets of rings from diferant companes and they both dont fit it is like they are to wide like the from the in side of the ring to the out side they fit in the ring slot but bottom out and wont compress any more so they hit on the top of the piston hole on the way in i have tryed three diferant ring compresors and it does it with all of them i thought mabey rong rings but what is the chance of both being wrong i need them in soon and my buddie and i cant figure it out

Try cleaning out the ring groove.
