I just picked up a '91 HICAS S13 and was thinking about an issue with the power steering pump. Was there ever a CA powered silvia with hicas or should I think about a custom bracket? Or am I just SOL?

there are HICAS CA18 pumps. awhile back there were alot of people who had HICAS pumps and didn't want them... trade with them if your motorset comes with a nonHICAS pump.

I know. But I am going to do it once, and do it right so I am going to wait til I have the money for a nice coil-over package and get a hicas eliminator bar at the same time... I jury-rigged everything with my last car and made a solemn oath not to do it with this one... The best part is the car is 99.9% rust free.

DUDE YOU STOLE MY CAR! Lol.

Yours is exactly like mine in every detail (even the pinstripe) although you have much nicer-looking paint. Oh, and mine is about 1.5" lower.

You're in Daytona? I'm surprised we haven't passed by each other, I was down there almost every weekend for a good 2 months when I was unemployed getting a tan and swilling margaritas at Ocean Deck.

Splash guard? That's what I've always known them as.

Thanks for the comments. I've searched for sooo long trying to find a clean S13 that was black. The vlsd and crap are just a bonus if you ask me. I'm liking the close ratio steering rack though. I BARELY touch the wheel and the car turns instantly.

Thier inner-guards.. if you wanna the ****house outta ya sil you gotta take them out..

Nice 180..

The Ca's did come out with Hicas and ABS.. and it's totally ****.. best thin g is to remove them, or put in a Hicas Locker.. all hicas is, is a four wheel sorta steering. crap for drifting/tracking..

Actually good for tracking and autox, bad for drifting. The rear wheel steering makes the car rotate much faster (directional rear toe-out on demand) on traditional corners while not being as twitchy as a heavily toed-out car on a straightaway. This, however, makes the car unstable while drifting as it tends to want to rotate out of the drift in the direction that the front tires are pointing.

i thought it was real bad for running at the track, as it wouldn't sit right where i pointed it..

Also the ****ty crappy lsd thats bout to die isn't helping uch either.. one thing i regret in my life.. buying a totally imported nissan.. problem after problem.. specially in the heat where i am.. the CAs die quickly

Damn the mis-information all to hell...

I've got 2 (count them, 2) CA HICAS pumps sitting on the floor of my garage as we speak. If you want one or both, lemme know and I'll work you a deal. As for the HICAS (this is from experience since I had one) it's not such a bad thing. I kinda liked it to be honest. Definatly a bad thing for drifting and can be a pain sometimes in autoX as it doesn't activate until 30mph.BUT, driving the car for a few months will acclimate you to the way it acts and you'll quickly learn to drive with it. The crappy part is driving a car that has it, and then driving one that doesn't. The rear end will feel like it's not turning. For an everyday/weekend warrior S13, I think a HICAS would be a great car and I'd love to have another one....

<3 i want a HICAS coupe... any of you "drifters" who wants to do away with your HICAS system in the FL area, let me know. I will be glad to swap everything from my nonHICAS car over (including my silvia VLSD)... swap subframes and lines.

Sean, you'll need wiring, the separate computer, and the whole damn steering assy. from the steering box up to the wheel. There is a little sensor in the steering wheel that tells the HICAS computer what angle and speed you are turning the wheel so that it can adjust the rear toe accordingly. I've thought about doing it to, but I think I'd have to find an SE Coupe with HUD, swap over the HICAS, and drop in my JDM Climate control. Get some JDM emblems on the side and make it a show car. Maybe that'll be my next project....

I have no intentions of drifting so I am not too concerned about that. And Float, I will probably hit you up for the hicas pump when the time comes. I am just waiting to see if this local guy is going to dump his CA for an SR.
