So, uh, yeah...me and Mikie's clips had HICAS and there's two places to attach power steering lines on the pump...is it safe to just plug one up and pretend like everything is ok? or will this hurt something? Do SR people have this issue as well?

Dammit! Why didn't Sport Compact hold my hand through this??!

Am I gonna need to get a new pump?? Which one is compatible in the US?

you need a new pump...do NOT plug one hole and just use it... Paul's SR motor had the same deal...hicas pump on a non-hicas car...your only option is to find a new p/s pump (non-hicas of course!):D

I have a hicas pump on mine and I did what Paul did. Use the first hole for the power steering.

Take the pump out before you do anything, remove the back housing. (should be 4 bolts) Once you open it, you will see little fins. They come out easy by hand, so remove them all. Put the back housing back on. Find a bolt to plug up the 2nd PS hole, put teflon on it incase it leaks.

Now the pump should be good to go. I have no problems other than the connection where the small hose coming from the resevoir turns into a big one for the pump. It leaks there but thats my ghetto connetion reducer type thing I have.

i plugged the hole pn my hicas pump and allot of high presure steering fluid went all over the place, casuing belts to squeal and howl like a banshee, along with the dramatic cloud of smoke too of course when it was burned by the manifold and turbo ;)

Thats why me and paul removed the fins from the back housing ;)

Pressure builds up back there with the fins in place.

The Hicas resevoir uses a bigger hose going to the pump.

I used my KA resevoir and made an adapter in between the little hose and the big one.

Hey-

As I recall you guys both got your clips from Venus right? The CA clip that we got from them was also HICAS. All we had to do was call them and complain and they told us just to find a non HICAS one and they would reimburse us for the full cost including shipping. We got a non-HICAS one from themadscientist. So that is an option to the ghetto rigging method.

Matt

PS please just ignore this post if you didn't get them from Venus... I am pretty drunk right now and don't clearly remember everything...
