It starts with a click and ends with a bang. I had rod bearing sieze on #1, and the rod ventilate the block. So, here I am again. At least all I need this time is a long block. I am not sure how to proceed, but after the last issue I am sure it will all work out.

Pics to come later. On a side note, the rods are quite beefy. I can see the pistons are a joke lol.

YIKES man.

Oh well, it's what, 2009? So that engine lasted like 20 years? Not too shabby, haha.

WTF man! This has been a bad last 6 months for you. So did you like forget to put oil in it or something? What were you doing?

Somebody hook this guy up with a block!

Actually, Saturday I changed to Royal Purple 10W-30 as it has been chilly. No idea what happened. Just driving like normal and it starts. I think it is a lifter and I get a sudden lesson in engine noises.

The rod and piston chunk look sweet on my mantle

If 10-30 was a thinner oil, what were you running before?

I had bad experiences with royal purple and rod bearings...

Shoot me a price shipped to [email protected]

What I am thinking is getting a 99-01 Accord for a daily and then slowly building up a motor to swap in. At least all I really need is a long block. But I need something ASAP to get me around. Don't worry: selling the S13 is not in the cards...yet.

I'll stick to my good old Amsoil. My father-in-law has been using that stuff in his race cars for AGES and swears by the stuff.

My personal opinion about royal purple is that its garbage I used it in my integra 2 weeks later she sounded like a diesel truck because I had spun a rod bearing. and my motor was super fresh......

People who use Amsoil always swear by it. They are VERY loyal customers. It IS the best oil to use. PERIOD. I highly suggest running it.

I always heard great things about royal purple too so I threw some in my KA and a month and a half later I spun a bearing. I cant really blame the oil though when I had my 150000 mile KA up towards the redline all the time!

I am pulling the ancillaries this weekend to prep for an eventual swap (in the next 6 months) so I will shoot pics of the epic hole.

a friend RB26 made loud claking noises after his 1/4 mile run. He was stumped as it was the first time it ever happened. Thought his motor was toast. Sounded horrible. I asked what he did different than last 5 years. He mentioned fresh royal purple. Told him I'd start there. Problem solved...and this was 80 degree day. I wouldn't run the stuff. No reason to risk it

I dumped RP into Igor. At that price I wanted to try it in the engine that only needs 3 quarts!

I don't want to blame the oil, but 4 years of Mobil1 and 4 days on Royal Purple. Hmmm.

I am pretty stoked that I will be building a brand new CA for my baby. I just need to start collecting parts. I plan on just a stock rebuild with a new wp, op, seals and maybe a Cometic hg (more than likely not).

just go with felpro silly

yeah, it makes me wonder though if the RP isnt soo good that it reveals the worn parts that have been slowly dying for 20 years......

LMAO! Google advertising is so funny. We've got a thread talking ship on RP and there is an advertisement at the bottom of the page for RP that says "protection, power, performance".
