well i'm lookin for the least exspensive way to get boosted and the ca seems to be it. i found one here http://www.osakajdmmotors.com/intronissan.htm. has anyone ever bought from them and are they a good comapany to deal with? is there any other parts that i need that they don't list ,and are hard to get? 950 seems to good to be true for a complete running engine. what do you guys think?

It seems cheap until you get one. Don't forget, no matter where you get your motorset from, you should always do a full overhaul of the accessories like the tbelt, tensioner, idler, water pump, oil pump, all new gaskets, etc... If it's $1k for the motorset, figure $2k minimum to get it in and running.

But thats stuff you'd have to buy with any new motor (or turbo-ing an existing motor).

Its just that CA parts are harder to find than KA or SR parts.

thats all you need but you will also need an ignitor chip and a dropping resistor. and the intercooler. i got a spare drop resistor if you end up needing it. osaka is a good place to get from but iv heard very few bad things.. just make sure you get compression and leakdown test results before you buy. so expect to pay around 1,800$ to have it running.. thats complete price. heres my breakdown:

1. Motor + shipping = 1250$ 2. Ignitor + Resistor + Intercooler = 300-500$3. Parts to be replaced and such = random.

this is if you do the swap yourself.. its really easy. good luck.

Meh, I think that's way too conservative. Anyone who puts a motor in without at least replacing all the timing components and water pump is asking for trouble. The valve stem seals in the head are probably dried out and cracked from years of baking in the heat sitting in a junkyard. My breakdown would be more like this-

Motor + shipping = $1250Ignitor = $50Dropping resistor for injectors = $30MAF KAE or CA = $15-25FMIC = $200 + making your own piping (~$100)Blow off valve = $40 (dsm) - $200 jdm tytenessTiming belt - $25Tensioner - $37Idler pulley - $45water pump - $30oil pump (optional but recommended) - $97headgasket - $50stock head bolts = $30 arp = $98valve cover gaskets - $30fuel pump = $90O2 sensor = $45front cover gaskets = $15new accessory belts = $25fluids (oil, power steering, coolant, transmission) + oil filter = $60spark plugs = $8fuel filter = $15misc (rtv, coolant lines and vacuum lines) = $20

So yeah, that's a minimum of $2300 to get the car going. Of course, you can use some of the stuff that came with the motor and HOPE it works, but IMO, why even take that chance? I'd rather put the motor in knowing that everything is good and ready to go rather than replacing **** that breaks a couple days/weeks down the road. Nothing like a busted coolant line under your intake manifold or oil pump failure and motor seizure!

hehe well i was asking for it then. althought i didnt replace anything.. not even the timing belt. and mine ran perfect. the only thing that ended up wrong with mine was the pistons were rusted.. and thats not a basic replacement when you get a motor. i guess its just a chance you take. but yes, it is extremely safer replacing all those goodies.

"Cheap" and "boost/ed" should NEVER be used together in the same sentence. If you think you're going to pick up a motorset and drop it in, you're sorely mistaken. In actuality, you're probablly looking at about the same amount of money, whether you go SR, KA-T, or CA. The KA will be the easiest to find parts for, and will be the most streetable. The CA will be the next eaisest, and the SR coming in last. (not that it's hard to get parts for the SR either). I would SERIOULSY plan on having at least another $1,000-$1500 ontop of the money for the motorset if you want to do it right.
