hi im from ireland and have just purchased a '91 nissan 200sx s13 with a ca18det. i got it for very little money as its in quite a tired state, so i've decided to save it!!:icesangel the turbo was blown and the big end bearings were also gone. i have since replaced them and washed out the whole exaust system but it still seems to burn oil :( i have not much experience with these particular engines so would greatly appreciate any help on where to start on the CA other than valve stem oil seals or rings??? thanx;)

Well if it burns oil, it could be cause by few things, piston rings are worn out or valve seals, or blown turbo. but you already replaced the turbo, assuming that it is still good.I would do a leak down test and a compression test and see what results comes out.chances that you need to replace the rings.check if your car smokes first thing when you start it in the morning, if it does. valve seals are gone.

I hope that helps,

I would either get another motor or prepare for a complete rebuild and save yourself the headache.

Your turbo's seal is failing (Normal). CA18 aren't that much of fuss to rebuild as long as you have all the parts you're going to replace on hand and ready to be installed.

My bad, I saw in your initial post that you replaced your turbo already. Now the question is, did you replace the turbo with a new unit or a 2nd hand one? And did you have the head recondidtioned yet? So many little things to worry about that can cause this issue.
