My hands are kinda full right now with multiple projects, and I might be tempted into cancelling my 510 CA project. The clip that I have is an S13 Silvia clip with CA18det and auto trans. There are NO BODY PANELS. It is in very, very good condition physically, and I have not cleaned it. My friend drove this car in Japan before cutting it, and he said it was very strong. SOme of you in Orlando saw this clip already, it was the dark blue one that had the aero bumper.

It comes mechanically complete, and includes a razo turbo timer and the HUD cluster with 9k tach. The car only had 37xxx kms on it, and appeared to have been well-cared for. Automatics are usually not punished as badly as the manual cars too. Please email me [email protected] if interested, or to view it in Orlando. I will post a couple pics soon. I am looking for $1700 for it, and will include a NPR FMIC in good condition for an additional $100.Thanks,Inshan

It is a manual so you could just swap the Ka transmission over. Also I heard the CA manuals are closer ratio gears then the Ka or SR just wondering.

The KA transmission doesnt swap over, the bell housing is way too big. As far as the transmission part without bellhousing, ive heard it works and ive heard it doesnt. I have yet to seen it myself.

The CA18ET transmission fits but its way too short and your going to have to cut some of the hole in the body to clear the shifter part.

or you can keep it automatic and never come off boost. I'm not too sure about selling it... if someone comes and takes it, ok, but if not I will keep it. Only if I get tight with $$ will I put it on Ebay or something.

Sorry about not making any sense but I was asking if you can swap the KA transmission to the CA engine and it was answered.

Thanks for the replies.

I defintely prefer the automatics over the manuals, but the manual transmission will be a bit of a challenge to find. Using a Ka24's gearbox and a CA18's bellhousing can be done, but I don't see a major benefit in doing unless CA28 gearboxes become scarce.

Dee, have you done the KA box with CA bellhousing setup? I may end up keeping my clip and doing my conversion at a later time, but I don't necessarily HAVE to switch to manual trans. I think I would be just as happy to have a fast auto in my 510.

I do enjoy pulling gears though, and would prefer the manual, but only if it is not a big headache to do. I think I will probably grab a CA bellhousing next time I hit the junkyard and just keep it for later. Maybe I will pick up a KA box the bell swap later on.

Sean, you are welcome to come and check it out. I am right around the corner from you. I'll PM you my #.

It's a lot more difficult for the FWD gang to pull this off as there is alot more involved, but the RWD really shouldn't be that much of a problem because the differential is seperate from the gearbox (opposite with the FWD, hence the major problem).

Hey Inshan,

Didn't you use to have a shop off 19th St. in Ft. Lauderdale? That's not an everyday name and I'm just curious.

Anybody interested in this clip can make me an offer. I already stated the price I was looking for, and what it includes. Just bought another car, and I don't think I can do this swap anywhere in the near future. It is easy for me to get another clip later on, and I don't really want this one to sit here forever (storage space is a prob at the moment)

hey, if you are doing the ca into a 510, get the sohc trans, its shorter and will keep the shifter closer to stock location. my shifter is right at the limit of being to far back to be comfortable, and the only reason i can deal with it is because i have a short throw, and i had to reversed it in the bushing(it leans forward instead of backwards).

The ca, sr, ka, and rb internals are all the same. You can use any combo of the internals in any transmission....
