My ca blew a headgasket when i was passing a couple cars in traffic today. White smoke just spewing out from the exhaust. A cop pulled me over and asked me when was the last time I changed the muffler on the car he thought he knew what he was talking about. But I'm pretty sure its my headgasket since there was white smoke. There was a leak coming from the exhuast manifold side near the b ack corner. Coolant flowed out of it. I know I had blowby come out of the valve cover, and the valve cover also was leaking oil the whole time I owned it. Could the oil going flowing down the headgasket cause the gasket to burn up and blow? I boosted around 14psi a couple times with my gt2510 and overheated the car about two times 3 months ago. But more recently I took my car to the track and it was really hot, maybe I didnt let my car idle enough after my runs? The headgasket was changed a year ago with brand new headbolts too. Any suggestions on what could have caused it? Felpro gaskets not up to par in terms of performance? lol . But sorry I needed to vent since my poor 510 wont be running anytime soon.

the fel-pro is up to the task.... you overheated it, im surprised it lasted any longer then that one time. And im sure that 2510 turbo is pumpin out some heat unless your running real low boost.

I just so happen to have a new fel-pro head gasket that im tryin to sell. $55 shipped and its yours.

thanks but i can get one locally for that price. It survived like 4 runs in 90degree temp. eek. So 210 is pretty hot as is huh? I'm only boosting 11lbs. I have my maf set up as blowthrough and it runs rich constantly.

i changed the piston rings(shoulda changed bearings too) a year ago. I dont have money so I think i'm going to just put a new headgasket and hope it is all good. But before the hg blew there were some blow by coming out of the exhaust side, i wonder are my rings bad too

It is pretty fortunate that your HG lasted that long after a couple of high heat runs (especially overheating). While you have things opened up, it may be a good idea to check out your internals. It would give you peice of mind at the cost of a little time.

210 degrees really isnt all that hot. ive had the block literally smoldering after running it with no coolant until it wouldnt even turn over anymore. even then i didnt blow the head gasket. if you replaced the rings a year ago i wouldnt be suspecting them either. just throw a new HG on there and go beat on it some more.

How about checking for warpage BEFORE you put the HG on. You're not making enough power for it to fail because of combustion chamber pressures. That means it failed because of poor sealing, which means a warped head/block.

Get the head resurfaced and check the block or you'll be doing this again.

yeah the warped head situation is in the back of my mind. I hope i'm able to find a extra head if it is indeed the head .
