Hi, i just finisehd swapping an SR motor into an 89 240sx. Now i am looking for another project since i have another 240sx(same year)I feel after doing the sr swap that i am pretty competent in workign on cars despite the fact that its an easy swap.

Anyway...I was just just wondering what differences there are in swapping in a CA18det for anyone who has done both. Is it a lot more work? is there more fabrication eccessary thanks

CA goes in easier, less crap to re-route (heater lines, radiator ect). The CA also sits on the mounts a lot easier at least in my opinion.

Would you guys say as many 'upgraded' parts are neccessary...like the sr swap pretty much needs a bigger radiator...stuff like that? and are most CA's clips or motor sets, or a mix of both? thanks very much

the radiator from a KA works great on a CA (esp an S14 radiator if you can score one of those).

Just be sure to upgrade to like an SR20 turbo (even the S13 T25 is a big step up from the stock POS).

The only weak link on a stock CA is the turbo, after you get past that your set.

SR's have slightly different motor mounts than the USDM cars. So it's a royal whore to get the thing to sit on the mounts somtimes. CA's use the same stuff so it drops in a lot easier.

What's the deal on upgrading to an S14 radiator? Dual core? Sounds like a viable upgrade and more economical than getting a koyo/fluidyne for 400 dollars.

The S14 radiator is about 2x as thick as the stock S13 radiator. If you can find one in a junk yard or find sombody who went SR it wouldn't hurt to pick one up. That's what I ran on my monster CA and had no issues with cooling at all.

Some S14 radiators are double core. I have a 4 friends with 97/98 240's and only one of them has a dual core rad :(
