been searching around and all i can seem to come up with is people doing a TH400 and a Glide... im not a fan of either trans, the TH400 is retarded heavy, and altho it was used for years on the street, a Power Glide is less than ideal for street driving in my eyes.

The C4 is by far the lightest and it doesnt hurt that ive got a fully built TCI C4 sitting here with manual valve body already.

Im going to kick off my project sometime around april, just trying to gather as much information now, to make everything go smoothly later on. THANKS GUYS!

well your in vero, take the transmission, throw it in the trunk. Drive to orlando, drop it off at mazworx and they will do it for you. Mark is a good guy and will always take on a project like this, give them a call first though, just to be polite lol.

I'm not trying to sway you from the C4, because I was in the same boat as you nearly 2 years ago when I started my S14 project. I went with the TH400 over the C4 because of higher power holding potential, lower price, and simplicity of swapping to a glide later. My car sees no street use, so that's ok with me.

As far as the AMS kit goes...

http://www.amsperformance.com/...age=1

This is an adaptor that goes between the Nissan Bell and the Ford Trans much like the BDE kit I use on my car.

However... There is a difference in length between the VH bell and all other Nissan bells of about 1.100". This will cause your Torque Converter spacing to be different on the VH than the KA that AMS is used to supplying parts for. Just something to keep in mind.

Lastly, http://www.bde-performance.com makes a 4L80E kit now, which would give you an overdrive gear, something neither the C4 or TH400 can offer. It's not on their site, but call and ask Brett about it.

If you wanted to stay with a Ford auto, wouldn't the 3 speed with the overdrive trans bolt up the same? These were in the early 80's Lincolns and I believe the 5.0 Mustangs (with a more responsive valvebody) up until the mid 90's. They use the same bellhousing bolt pattern as the C-4 and are basically a C-4 with an Overdrive gear which is directly tied to the torque converter. I was thinking about doing this same swap for my car after reading about the expense of getting a reman. They are cheaper to come by also and there is a market for them when it comes to replacement parts and performance upgrades. I was going to try too get with WES sometime to ask if he could make an adapter plate for me that would work. The only other challenge that I see would be with the torque converter/flexplate adaptation.

Are you talking about the AOD transmission? If so I wouldn't bother...

I've driven lots of AOD vehicles (F150s, Crown Vics, LTDs, Mustangs, Town Cars, etc) and they all slip. While the AOD can hold power it's not a very reliable platform. Sure it'll drive forever slipping like crazy but it's no fun to drive.

Plus Ford transmissions take way too much power to turn imo
