Hey, I'm interested in having an engine and possibly a transaxle sent to the US from japan, problem is, is that I'm going to have to buy the car at auction and get the parts sent over. I want a wrecked car, one that's not fixed up, just has the parts that I need and then the rest can go to a junkyard or the ocean, or whatever they do with junkers.

(This is not for a R32/R33/R34 or any other Skyline.)

I'm just wondering if I purchased the vehicle from over there, if it would even be possible to pull those parts and ship them to the US, or if I would have to just find a site that actually sells the engine/transaxle to get it shipped over here.

It's possible to get the parts pulled off the car if you purchase it, but you have to be sure that you trust the person that is getting the parts car for you. What engine and transmission are you looking for?

Shipping is going to be a mofo from Japan to US, especially if it's heavy, unless you know someone on a base over here, and over there...then parts can be shipped between bases for little money, or so I am led to believe.

I'm looking to get a 4B11T and the transmission from an Evo X. Obviously buying the car as a wreck and then having it shipped is better than trying to get the engine and transmission from a dealer.

The head itself is 5000, or there abouts. You can't just order the entire thing, you have to piece-parts it, so, that's why I'm inquiring. The whole shabang would cost around 17000 to order by parts.

And, I know people on the GW, and obviously people here in the states. I don't really know if it's worth my time, or not.

I'd say to keep your eyes open for any sites that sells engines/half cuts for what you are looking for.

I really wouldn't know even where to start looking.

Or, if you can, use Yahoo! Japan auctions and go into the parts pages and just type in your engine code and see what may pop up.
