hey guys,

ive been researching on this forum for about for months now and i have to say this is by far the best 240 site out there!

i havent ever posted before cause i only have internet on my phone. i have an 89 sohc ka with fresh rebuild .020 over pistons, balanced, p&p head and intake, and im going to be putting on a T3 ball bearing turbo off an 88 daytona shelby z on it in the near future. my question is can i use c18det maf and injectors without a tune? i know u have to tune for each individually but if the maf is calibrated for the injectors then it shouldnt matter should it? i was going to do an fmu till i can afford bigger injectors and an safc but if this will work then ill just do it. what do ya think? will it work?

You will need a tune to properly use a different mafs and injectors.

Razi's right, you are going to need a tune.

They are 370cc so you will have to tune for that size. The MAFS has nothing to do with the injector size, it's just a sensor that tells the ECU what's up. Without the proper fuel maps on the ECU, you won't be getting the right amount of fuel to the injectors.

Just so the rest of KA-T knows, on a lot of domestics you just need a different MAF and then bigger injectors will work. Reading the Summit catalog in my, err, office, helps out sometimes, :P.

Unfortunately 240freak90, the Nissan 240SX isn't like those cars. You will need to tune the ECU or use a piggy-back device to use a different MAF or injectors. It is much better idea to tune the ECU or use a standalone computer rather then a piggyback in most situations.

I'd love to drop in a set of 42lb injectors with a new MAF like all my 5.0 buddies

Yeah, a friend of mine is thinking of building up a 5.0 as a drift/auto x car. Yesterday he was like "Dude...can't you just get a MAFS calibrated to a bigger injector size? That's what everyone with 5.0's does and it seems really easy!"

Haha i wish.

There's a FOAF around here that runs a 5.0, with injectors/MAF and a progressive NO2 setup. I think he's in the low 11s pretty regularly.
