I've noticed that on ebay, someone is selling NEW C's short shifters for the 240 for $250. There is also a "Japanese C type shifter" made by RVM for $100. I looked at the pics and these 2 shifters look identical. Anyone have any input on this?? If the RVM is the same thing, I WANT ONE!! Go check it out people, just might be a quality shifter for less!! (I hope) lol

1. C's (the Japanese company) is no longer... due to bankruptcy2. I haven't heard anything about it, why not pick it up and test it out. It has a 5 year warranty.

Yeah, you're right, it's not all that expensive. I just read a thread on Zilvia.net, one guy on there has it, said it was really nice. I swaer it looks identical to the C's shifter. All the parts look the same. Might as well order it, I'll be the guinea pig.....lol.

i did, i did......ordered it last night. I'll let everyone know how it turns out. Been quite a while since i bought small things like this, haha. I'm used to ordering bigger turbos for the Grand National I owned previously. I've gotta build this engine, and put some boost to it. I'm about 350hp shy of what I'm used to driving.

I think you'll be suprised what 230rwhp will do to the 240 :)

Yeah, I know of a guy around here that had a turbo KA. One of my friends said it was really fast. I'm debating on whether to go ahead and turbocharge this engine, then build another KA with forged internals and put it in...or build an engine first, then turbocharge it. Decisions decisions.......

*bump* should have the shifter tuesday. Does anyone know if a shift knob from an s-15 will fit. The thread is an M12, I believe the 240 is a 10mm. Adapter maybe?? Just curious if anyone has done this and how it was done. I found one of these shift knobs for sale, and i really like it!!

I'll bet that it would. Do you have access to a S15 shifter? and post some pics so I atleast know why you want one.

I don't know if I'll buy the shift knob or not, Altiman. I need to look for an adapter. The shift knob looks like brushed aluminium with the Sylvia emblem on top. It's wrapped in leather around the middle. Pretty darn sweet. I need to post some pics of my car, debating on buying a digital cam so that I can without all the trouble of film developing.

Two days ago I installed an Arospeed short-shift I got from Ebay for $75 for my 95 S14. It went into the car in about 10 minutes. The throws are definitely shorter, and the parts themselves were made really well. tolerances are tight but IMO it's a great buy for $75 (or whatever it goes for now on Ebay) I sort of remember what the C's unit looked like back then when I used to work for a speed shop, and the main lever is pretty beefy - as was the original C's piece.

I'm referring to the complete kit similar to this one:

[auction ends in 5 days... for those who read this late ]

I've seen other short-shifters with less parts, but I went for the more complete choice instead. :)

Looks alot like the one I ordered, its Raine. Probably the exact same thing judging by the pics. There is a shift knob from an s15 on ebay that I would like to have, only, the threads aren't the same :( They're M12, and our 240s are M10. I've been trying to find an adapter, but, no luck yet. I know I'll need a new knob, I've read on here of people destroying the stock one by just trying to get it off......

I know of at least one case where someone I know drilled out the threads in a shift knob with a different thread pitch (just the threads) then tapped a small hole in the front of the new shift knob (the part facing the center console, out of passenger view) and put a set screw in it like how most universal shift knobs hold onto the shifter. He even backed the install up with a dab of silicon inside the shift knob. Maybe you can find someone with the knowhow to do this.

I got my stock shift knob off with a thick rag and a large slip joint wrench (those kind that you can adjust the opening by letting the pivot bolt slide to a different slot). Anyhow, I wrapped the stock shift knob with a large thick cloth about 10-12 times around (I mean large), grabbed the whole thing with the slip-joint wrench, and gave it a swift counter-clockwise twist. I said to use a large wrench - this will give you a lot more leverage. Once you break the "seal" then you can unwrap and hand twist it off, with no damage.

well, I thought about using a set screw. I just dont know how well that would hold up. Seems like it would back off or something, especially since the hole in the shift knob is 2mm larger than the OD of the shifter itself. I can get anything done, I have access to CNC machines :) Just dont want to damage the shift knob with the chuck in the machine!! I'll think of something, gonna wait and see how much this shift knob is gonna go for. Sounds like they use loc-tite on the stock knob. Shouldn't be a problem at all to get off without damaging it. I was just concerned b/c mine is leather wrapped since the car has the leather package.

Correction: the shift knob on the S14 I recently bought was loose. I was referring to my car prior to the S14; it was a 1995 200SX SE-R - which have leather shift knobs as standard. Broke the loctite hold and came off without harm =)

Hey... I just wanted to tell everyone that I tried the Arospeed short shifter that another user referred me to. The installation was quick and easy, shifts are definitely shorter, and (the best part) the shifter now has a very solid, mechanical, yet easy-to-shift feel to it. Very good price, too! I got it for under $90 shipped to my house. Try it! I hear it's a great alternative to the OBX... Good luck, guys.

Looks like the same thing to me man. Just some new shifter and some cheap hardware to modify the stock stuff. The B&M is the entire top plate assembly, much nicer. I don't know why people complain about it rattling. Mine does it very very little and only at about 6,000 rpm. I guess some people have bad mounts or are the same people that think an Apexi N1 system is loud??? It's only a hair louder than a stock Mustang GT, go figure.
