I was a consistant 3.7 gpa student in hs. Got a 28 on my act's. Hence, I'm a pretty smart dude. College has me stumped however. With the purchase of my new car, it forces me to work around 30 hours a week to make ends meet comfortably. I'm not so sure with that kind of schedule that I'll have time to study for a 3.7 gpa. So, what I'm asking is, what is an acceptable range of gpa to have during college? 4 years.

Depends on what your intended degree requires and if you plan on going to grad school. Speak to an academic advisor for details.

I was hoping that I wouldn't have to. I'm majoring in Business Administration. I'm sure a 3.0 will be no problem for me.

I'm happy as long as I keep over a 3.0 in college. It's far harder to get a high GPA in college, as professors give out far fewer A's

My goal was to keep a 3.0 in college. I also worked ~30 hours a week during school. I managed to pull off a 3.1 gpa.

In highschool I had a 3.4, but that was with all honors and AP classes. Using my same study habits, I pulled off the 3.1 in college.

I think as long as you don't slack off, you'll be fine to keep a 3.0. If you put some real effort into it, you might even be able to pull a 3.5 off. Ofcourse, your major makes a difference too. I was an engineering major. If I would have had something easier, I'm sure a 3.5 would be much more attainable.

I definitely had my fair share of C's in college, but I had enough A's to counterbalance them. Just keep that in mind.

EZ, thank you for the answer. Im glad there is someone out there who is working as much as I am and still getting good grades. A 3.5gpa is what Im hoping for. Considering my major, and past study habits it should be very attainable.

Engineering Technology....is that different from straight engineering?

I'm hovering around a 3.0 after 4 semesters and thats been a biatch to keep here. Private universities that try and compete with the Ivy League schools suck.

Kinda, it's like half way between a Technology degree and an Engineering degree. Like I only had to have through Calc II and Physics II to get my degree.

However, I did take Calc III and Differential Equations to go towards my Master's, but I dropped out of my Master's program after the first semester.

Oh ok. Regular engineering is so buried in math.....it sucks. I'm in my last straight up math class....Engineering Analysis (applied differential equations). Hopefully my career isn't boring and suck after I've gone through all this hell to get my degree(once I get it).

Don't get me wrong, I had my fair share of math:

Calc I & IIPhysics I & IIAutomotive ThermodynamicsDC CircuitsChassis Design and Emissions TestingFluid Power Systems

Just a few of what I had to take. I know it's not as hard as your typical ME requirements, but it was much more math oriented than your typical Technology degree.

I love community college. I graduated with a 3.5 and worked 40 hours a week. Though I kinda hate my degree and want to go back to engineering.

This thread makes me fell like such an a$$.

I have worked 30+ hours a week all through college now, but I am in an "easy" major, and my college (not University) only requires a 2.0 to graduate. I was like you: I attended a magnet school for the arts and sciences, and in public high school, I graduated with a 3.8 GPR () and a 1280 on the SAT () shooting for 1330...I suck at math), NHS, the whole lot...

Right now, starting my 4th year in college, I have a 2.1 GPR. Between work, physical class, and working on my car, there is not a lot of time to study...

I have to spend a lot of time on school, otherwise I'm majorly fu*ked. One assignment can take anywhere from 1-10 hours to do...and thats one engineering class and I have 4 of them this semester. God I hate my major.
