I must be going brain dead. I've hooked up many an electrical device in ... oh ... say ... the 28 vehicles I've had since I was 15.

Today, I hooked up the HKS turbo timer type II, and every wire on the APEXi AVC-R boost controller with the exception of one; the power wire. APEXi recommends that the unit have all wires directly connected to the ECU. The red wire (power) from the unit is supposed to be connected to the ignition source (IG) at the ECU.

Well, the Haynes manual isn't very helpful in this. The wire order and in some cases color in the electrical schematic for the 96-98 240sx doesn't match what's physically in my car. I need to connect this to a "hot in start and run" wire. In other words, the unit will only be on when the key is turned in the ignition and remain on when the engine is running. Which wire is it??

Any help is appreciated ... my left eye is twitching, my back hurts and I'm blind and stupid ... at least I'm not numb ... yet ... more beer anyone??

Hey Scott... If you're looking for the IGN wire on the ECU, it's the one as shown in this link. It's the ECU pinout diagram for the S-AFC II, but the IGN wire is the same.

EDIT: Nevermind... I just realized you have a S14. It's N-1 on the following diagram instead:

Thanks p0rn ... can I call you p0rn? ;)

Anyway, the diagram is the same as the one that came with the AVC-R, but the wires don't match up. In the past I've found that sometimes car manufacturers will substitute standard wire colors for another due to shortage(s); maybe mine???

But on the plus side, I woke up this morning with a clear head and thought, "Dummy, just hook it to the green wire from the Turbo Timer ... it's hooked to the IG through the HKS harness I attached under the steering column!" Just goes to show what sleep can do for you. Thanks again.
