Ok found out why my g50 keeps killing fuel pumps.after I replaced fuel pump and got baby running, couldnt figure out why she ran poor even after taking her out for some high speed driving.Seems like she has more than 1 injector out now,so she sat for a few days.then I went to start her and nothing...again.Well,I proceeded to pull pump and..seen that the o-ring was slimmy and falling apart.wtf!!!now Im pissed.how is this possible? So my very loving and thoughtfull girlfriend comes home and i tell her the good news even acuse the gas station of having bad gas when..She says "i wonder did that c.l.r.had anything to do with it".hm come again.well her brother suggested to poor some in tank to clean out fuel system even swore by it,saying thats what he put in his acura. So i asked how much went in to car.she replied half a bottle!!!!Now Im feeling like Ike,an she's looking like Tina!!So gents,Iknow ill need another pump.(3rd)new injectors.o-ring.drain fuel tank.fuel filter.anything else?Besides repoing her set of keys?

I'm surprised the rest of your fuel system isn't in shambles, too!!!!

I'd definitely pull the tank and clean it well.

Hopefully someone with more knowledge about chemistry will chime in soon. If it killed anything, it's your injectors. The fact that the o-ring was bad is scary for your injector o-rings.

I would remove the tank and steam clean it and dry it with alcohol. Perhaps flush the pump with good gasoline outside of the car and see if it can be salvaged. Replace the filter and rubber hoses. Not sure on the rest of it.

Again, someone who understands chemistry should be able to help more. Lord knows what that stuff did to your aluminum engine components...

Try to find out exactly what flavor of CLR they used before you dump the girlfriend and kill her brother!

Thanks Heath. She said it was a grey bottle,Ill go to home depo to look at it.there web site doesnt really say much or what it would do to metal.Talked to her mad scientist brother he said he told her about an ounce not half a bottle.Either way im boiling. Why she would listen to him I dont know,I sold him my very nice v6 tempo and its now barely running but of course,he has to have the big speakers in it.dammit!can the pump be taken apart?Yea I know the o-rings are shot dont need to hydro her.I did peep into tank it still looks new, pump has some sort of powder on it like a light coat of rust maybe.so come out come out where ever you are super posters help me out.I promise when i get rich I wont forget a bout you.

Wow.

This one gets some sort of prize.

Here's what got dumped in the tank:

Component CAS# OSHA HAZARD % by Weight1. Water 7732-18-5 NO 81-892. Lactic Acid 79-33-4 YES 8-123. Lauryldimethyl Hydroxysultaine 13197-76-7 N0 2-54. Propylene Glycol Normal Butyl Ether 5131-66-8 YES 1-2

It's very acidic (low pH), which is why it dissolves bases (such as calcium deposits). Also quite corrosive... Can't be good for aluminum.

Replace the pump, drain the tank, disconnect the fuel lines at the engine, blow them out with compressed air, and refill with good fuel and run it for a while.

thanks AZ.sounds good but,my concern would be for o-rings on injectors.I havent drained tank but I did fill up with fresh gas when I put my old fuel pump in,car bounced pretty hard. She tried to smooth out after running her hard.Like I said earlier, the tank o-ring was in bad shape litterally fell apart in my hands in slimmy pieces. Will do what Heath said about flushing pump with gas, sucks its less than a year old. Will pull fuel lines and blow out as well as new filter. Are there any warning signs before you hydro an engine? Appreciate you guys helping out.If i didnt like tomatoes so much,Id pour the gas on her prized plant.

I'd like to think the injector seals would survive, they're not as "exposed"....

Hydrolock shouldn't be a concern since you're not dumping fuel.

Before this happened.she ran very good no bouncing smooth idle.occasional dead spot in throtle below 2000rpm but no other running issues. Now its bouncing worse than when I changed number 8 injector.I was thinking about opening one of the fuel pumps,is there anything in them to frankenstien into one pump? Thanks for quick responses.

I'm thinking you might be better off just replacing it with an aftermarket one.

A Walbro 255 can be had for $89, and it's cheap insurance.

Yeah, I put a walbro in my Maxima when its pump went bad and haven't looked back. Cheaper than OEM but still great quality.

I wouldn't risk the injector o-rings. Once a lower one leaks the fuel pump is powerful enough to hydrolock things pretty quickly. They certainly come into contact with more fuel more than the fuel sender to tank o-ring.

I know this isn't an easy fix, but wow... this is a real mess.

1. Punch your former girlfriends brother in the face HARD.

2. Dump your girlfriend.

3. get a COMPLETE new or used fuel system. I mean everthing that was exposed to CLR.

Wow this tops the NICO dump post list, Even the "How to change a tire" topic and the "My car won't start" topic

It's basically a direct replacement for the stock pump. You will have to splice the power harness, as it's different than stock, but that's a simple matter.

18 is legal to have sex with, should be legal enough to mess someone up too. 15 years though, DAMN thats a loooooong time.

Was the car started?

If so then replace all the fuel lines running under the car and the rubber hose in the engine bay that connectects to the fuel filter. Then replace every rubber fuel hose under plenum and fuel rails, injectors and O-rings.

So your looking at $3000 worth of damage just for parts, But were in sue happy America.

Shouldn't be an issue. Half the cas on this site run a Walbro, especially the heavily-modded ones.
