Greddy makes a CARB friendly kit, they are the only ones though.

Greddy kit was carb pending for years. Not sure if they even claim that anymore.

For the 240 they only have 95-98 and it's $3600.

If you shop around instead of paying MSRP direct from Greddy you can get it for $2600. Add your own intercooler set up for $300 and call it a day.

If you add to the kit by doing ANYTHING and are over 250hp and you will get boost creep with the crappy manifold design, which may push you over 10psi (~300hp), and you will go boom.

Change the manifold with the ETD (or is it EDT) for $600 and add an external wg ($200+) and you can boost a safe...SOLID...9psi all day long.

So if you have a ka24DE and you are happy with 200-250hp then go for it.

I don't think any of the E-Manage based kits are or will even be CARB legal. The ability to tune them (with a controller or laptop) prevents them from passing through the CARB process. As far as I can tell, the 240sx kit never became CARB legal. Neither has the 350Z or G35 kits.

Ironically, CA probably has the areas with the largest concentration of non-smog legal car parts than anywhere else. The intents of the laws are good (The smog levels here were horrendous here at one time), but their execution is poor. Since most bolt-on turbo kits don't have CARB EO's it automatically makes the car illegal. So why would these people keep the cat and other smog equipment since these cars would have to get a "special" smog test anyways? The results seem to contradict the intent, at least as far as tuners are concerned.

I totally agree, if they went with the same type of inspection as Mass with very strict emissions and a basic visual they wouldn't have nearly as many problems. Then again, the people that run CARB wouldn't get rich off of companies paying them out the a$$ for each part they need to test.

I've stayed at various places in CA, LA being the worst of course. I found most of it to be really nice, San Diego being my current favorite.

I drove through LA once by myself, lost, I was in the city maybe 12 minutes before some dip $hit in a Honda wanted to race me. I had a good laugh, in fact I started laughing right there at the light in front of the guy. He was kind of perplexed and just took off when the light turned green. Car was actually pretty fast though...

I will never forget driving through LA man.. Coming out of the mountains looking down on the massive city and seeing an orange/brownish haze over the whole city. You get into it, and honestly you dont want to breath it smells so bad. I cant imagine how many people live shorter lives simply because they breath that air...
