92 Q with TCS. I am swapping the engine and won't be using the TCS. Is there any way to bypass the TCS so that the ECU sees the system as OK? What kind of signals are sent to the ECU from the TCS? Is it ground, power or some kind of resistance value? I have Alldata but I haven't found the type of signal that is transmitted yet.

I have learned from Elwesso that I can use a non-TCS ECU but would just like to know if I can bypass it with the ECU that I have. Money is money and if it's just a wiring issue I'd like to handle it that way. Thanx

Well, I don't have an answer for you but I've been thinking about doing the same thing for a while now. My TCS is acting up and I don't want it anyway. I'd like to just get all the junk out of the way. I'll have to look over the FSM and see if I can work out some details.

I have tried just unplugging the TCS unit and the ABS is also controlled by that module so that didn't work. When I unplugged it, I got the ABS light on the dash.

For the case of a Q guy you could just unplug some stuff so it goes into failsafe.... but in the case of swapping it into anything else where the TCS isnt there, its not going to give you problems.

I have a TCS ECU that ive been running on my non TCS car, and it gives me no problems, it only throws a TCS code but no CEL.

Cool, that's all I needed. I just wanted to make sure that the TCS code doesn't affect throttle response and power output of the engine.

Does the TCS in these cars not only brake each rear wheel when it senses wheelspin, but also control the amount of power the engine puts out? Just curious.

The Q TCS uses an additional butterfly valve that is electronically controlled between the Throttle Body and air intake. Part of the reasoning behind the "drive by wire" throttle bodies on later models is to consoldate this to one butterfly valve.

You might be able to gut the TCS throttle body, or buy a non-TCS throttle body...

I was wanting to remove the TCS valve on the intake on mine. If all you want to do is disable it and you don't mind the idiot lights on the dash being on then you can just pull the fuse under the hood. Both TCS OFF and SLIP lights will stay on but the system will be effectively disabled. I've had mine like that for a while.

I hate the dash lights being on tho. I suppose I could disconnect them...

My TCS lights stay on continuously. The unit doesn't work it's just the lights on the dash that are an irratation.

Is there an easy to just diable the lights? Thanks,
