Bypassing the Active suspension w/aftermarket struts?

My local mechanic is suggesting bypassing the active system (very expensive to repair) in lieu of aftermarket struts with new mounts? anyone had any experience w/such a scenario? I'm not a fanatic about stock and just don't want to shell out 3-4 grand for the suspension. open for ideas? thanks NICO!

Arg! Please don't do that. There's a member here who knows everything there is to know about the Active, and he does remans for a fraction of the dealer cost. His name is Keith Bowers and he goes by "texasoil". Use the search function to read all his posts, and/or call him at (832)651-7576 before you decide anything. I got his number from this thread:
