Does anybody know the right way to add an eq or amp to a factory G35 Coupe Bose system? It just doesn't have the sound i want.

My biggest problem i see is that the gps is wired into the use of the factory stereo and uses the speakers.

Any help would be appreciated...

Thanks in advance.

:D

doesn't your car already have an amp in the trunk? if it does, i don't see why you can't just unhook that one and hook up a new, more powerful one if thats what you want. but i don't know anything about electronics and stuff, except for what kinda system i want, so don't expect that theory to work

yeah that theory don't work....Bose wires their stuff with certain harnesses so that you can't use other peoples stuff...

You'll have to rewire it straight from the head unit, suggestion if you don't know what you're doing, pay someone, just stay away from Chula Vista cuz alot of those shops, after you get work done by them your stereo get's robbed a week later.

the head unit most likly will not have rca preouts you are going to have to get a manual and trace down all your wires and see what does what but I thought bose systems the amps were built directly on to the speakers

yeah i have heard both ways....i would think there would be an amp somewhere if there is then this should be easy...if not and they are built into the speaker then what?

There is none of you guys with a Bose factory Cd player that has hooked up any upgraded stuff too?

Hey burn504, welcome to the club!

To give you a short answer: no. There are no preouts at all, just a factory harness. If it's anything like the BOSE systems I've worked on in the past, you cannot add an auxiliary appliances (for the lack of a better word) ie EQ's, amps, to the headunit by way of splicing.

There are amps built-in to each individual speaker and resistance is 2ohms and not 4ohms standad on almost all aftermarket devices.

You can add a sub to your system by splicing the signal from any one of the speakers and supplying it to one of those sub packages especially designed for this application but that's about all you can do with that BOSE system.

If you want to upgrade, you need to revamp the entire system h/u, speakers and all.

That's a sweeet car you have and I wish ya the best of luck!

SHAMELESS PLUG: If you ever decide to pursue the aftermarket route I have a Doube DIN Pioneer CD receiver that has the brushed aluminum look for sale, I think it'd match the interior of the G perfectly.

Well thanks guys....but i can't believe i have to tear it all out to get it the way i want....

if i use just the headunit...is there a way?

like if i redid the speakers and an amp...could the amp be hooked into the back of the stock headunit...and then ran to each speaker? i can't believe there is no adapter to convert the harness into a rca....

In that case you probably can, I thought you only wanted to add an amp or eq and leave the stock speakers. I believe Metra makes the sort of thing you're looking for.

First thing you have to do is consult your service manual or the dealer and find out if this BOSE system uses individual amps mounted on each speaker or if it has one amp that powers all the speakers. I've only worked on early 90's BOSES on Q45's and G20's.

I suggest before you decide to buy anything, research and find out how the system is laid out. Then come back here and post so we can help ya out.

Just a suggestion, by try posting this at Sounddomain.com because there's lots of knowledgeable stereo folks there.

Yeah i didn't know you had forum for audio stuff.....

this layout it hard to read for me....i am used to asog.net....

the new bose systems do not use the amp for everyspeaker method....they just run off the headunit...

so you say there is a piece that converts the headunit harness into normal rca's? normally in every car i have i redo the whole thing....never tried to integrate with a stock stereo, exspecially a Bose.

Yeah, your options are pretty much limited just splicing on a sub and adding a bazooka or infinity basslink system or you will have to replace the deck. The metra unit I was thinking of is a harness that matches an aftermarket deck to stock speakers, not the other way around.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but I learned the hard-way earlier this year when I tried to just replace the BOSE deck with a CD Player. I ended up spending over 1 grand for an entirely new.

Have a professional installation shop take a look, maybe they new a secret or two?
