well my front speakers stopped working, so i assumed that the amp went dead. Instead of replacing the amp, i decided to get a new headunit (alpine), which i planned to use without the external amps. To check everything out, i plugged in the deck using a wire harness, and the deck turned on fine. However, after bypassing the amp using these (http://www.240sx.org/faq/artic...s.htm) instructions, i plugged everything back in and now the deck doesnt even turn on. As well, i noticed that the digital clock on the speedo displays really faded numbers.

I tried checking the fuses in the fuse box under the hood, and they all look ok. I also searched a whole bunch of forums, and it seems like this has happened to a several people, but with no solution posted.

Anyone know what i did wrong?? thanks in advance
