The stock theft deterrent system doesnt really do much...... It only detects when the door is opened........

If there is a fuse, that should be the best thing........

It alarms when the doors, hood, or trunk is opened without the correct key, it alarms when the ignition is forced.Wheel locks are to protect wheels. [careful of creating imbalance with one heavy wheel lock].

If you pull the fuse the car won't start as one of the alarm relays interrupts the starter signal.

Your FSM has wonderful diagrams.........that everyone who steals Q for a living has studied.

A good shop should be able to install an aftermarket system without having to touch the factory setup.

When I lived in NY, I had a 90 Q45 with an aftermarket system. You could use the aftermarket and the factory at the same time since one arms with the key and the other with its own transmitter.

The reason the alarm did not go off when they stole your wheels is because the Q45 does not have a shock sensor. It uses a switches to monitor the car such as at the doors, trunk and hood.

Also, I would suggest you get some real good wheel locks and the keep the key in a hidden location, not the glovebox.

If you want to be lower the odds even more, use 2 different types of wheel locks, such as Gorilla and McGard. This way each wheel has 2 separate security devices to overcome in addition to the alarm system.

I also prefer wheels without any covers over the lugs, so that the perps don't run off with the wheel caps as a souvenir.
