Check out this guy's review/opinion on those filter. It is called bypass filter/toilet paper filter

http://www.hydrogen-boost.com/march2002.html

Then here is the website you can get those filters.

http://www.trasko-usa.com/

From reading the review/opinion and the search of that filter, it looks very good and it does flow very good like regular filter does. It keeps your oil extra clean and a lot less wear on the engine. This filter is mainly used for expensive machine and trucks, but this trasko company makes it for automobile. Anyone got any experience with this filter and willing to share the opinion on it?

I actually had to work with an engineer in increasing the oil volume in the prototype natural gas engine and one of the ways I looked into was to use a bypass filter unit. None of the filters that I looked into was big enough for our application but I did learn alot about them.

The only downside is you would have to change them pretty regularly because they do get clogged up pretty quickly

if you're using synthetic oil though it should allow for better filtration and I would think it would last alot longer as well. it doesnt list the frequency they reccomend changing the filter but I would imagine it could be 6k miles between changes or so. what is your input on that?

I'm currently changing oil/filter at 2k$ miles. when i rebuild my other motor I'm planning on running synthetic and if I could keep the oil changes down in frequency it'd be really nice for my wallet. those filters are HELLA expensive though.

I do not have any specifics on the actual interval but when I did my research, I kept running in to things about having to change it because overtime it loses its efficiency just like any filters.

here is a quote I found online about another bypass filter.

"The following is a good maintenance schedule to follow using the bypass system and AMSOIL synthetic oil. Once the unit and the oil has been installed on a gas engine, change the full flow filter every 12,500 miles or six months and top off with oil. Then, at 1 year or 25,000 miles, change the full flow filter again, change the bypass filter for the first time, do an oil analysis and then top off the system with oil."

another

"It has been determined that the most effective preventative maintenance schedule for engines and other equipment is to change the puraDYN® filter element and perform oil analysis at the Original Engine Manufacturer's specified oil change intervals. As long as oil analysis confirms that it is suitable for continued use, the oil does not need to be changed."

It seems like most companies recommend changing the filter element at the OEM recommended interval(including the full flow filter) but the oil can stay there for a lot longer time.

I read the FAQ on their site, it stayed that media roll, gasket and oil change is needed for first 5000 miles, after that it is every 10000. Do you guys think this is trustworthy?

With filter that condense, I would think it will clog up very quickly, however, it doesn't seem like the case from reading the stuff they provided on the website.

What do you guys think about that?

Hey it does work I have the dual filter system from amsoil and run thier badass 20w-50 race oil. It works wonders for my KA-T . oil is always clean. last longer too. I sell thier stuff at my shop.

Very interesting. I was thinking of buying the Oil Filter magnets and use them on top of the oil filter to catch all the small metal flakes. I already have the magnetic screw. How much are those filters? Also with most of us just having oil cooled turbos only. I wonder how much longer the oil will last because the turbo still shortens the life of the oil that we use greatly.

Filter itself is like 72 dollars, and the media is about 10 bucks each. Kinda expensive i think, but if you only need to change oil every 10k miles and make the engine run a lot longer, i would think it is worth it.

My friend has it on his civic, he had it for about 8000 miles, and he compares the oil he drained around 4000 miles(synthetic) and the oil that's currently in the car 8000 miles, the ones in the car are definitely cleaner. That's why I bring up this topic because it does look very efficient and interesting.

I think I will put this in my little civic for testing and see how everything goes, if it works great, I will put it on my KA-T.
