Is there any way to bypass the auto volume leveling for bass?

I put my woofer from my old car into my I35, but the higher the volume is, the lower the bass is, and its really annying.

I do not want an aftermarket HU because I like the stock look. Is there anyway to bypass this volume leveling/bass saver function without spending $50 on a module that equalizes sound (like the PAC AOEM-NIS2)?

Im a cheap bastard. If I don't have to spend the money, I won't.

Pac unit will not fix your problem. Most factory radios do the same thing. If you use a JL Audio Cleansweep, it will fix the problem by providing equalization AND a new volume knob. Once tuned, your factory volume will remain at the level where the system was tuned and you will use the JL Audio volume control as the main system volume (all speakers must be amplified). -or- Add a sub volume control to the sub amp and tune the amp for maximum output when the factory radio has not started to lower the bass output.

Nakamichi went out of business at least 5 years ago.

No product line has given me more grief over the years than Nakamichi. Junk.

Certain units like the multidisc in dash changer are prone to failure of the change and/or read mechanism. I had the 45z and it worked great.

Yeah, after installing the crap for 15 years, it's over-rated and over-priced.
