Take it from after the filter and feed into the return to the sump.

By the way, I kept mine in series on my cars because of pumbing concerns and the fact the ATF only slightly degraded at 50K with OEM fill. The filter and dual heat exchangers seem to work well, but in the TX summer, I like having the extra cooling capacity. Shifts are crisp and right now.

Look in Member's Rides under my signature for some pictures (incuding FY33) for some cooler installations. Mine are under the engine air filter for airflow and protection.

Where are your located? It's not in your profile.

Oh yeah, do a mechanical fluid exchange and pan drop, clean, and filter replacement first.

Look on the left top in red at the links below sponsors. Flush, pan drop and filter replacement should be very recent, or do it again. Must include pan drop and filter replacement.

4 lines [oh my] a complicated problem [combination/permutations]yet there are only two metal lines from the transmission.......find the one that flows [under pressure] from the TC and cut THE OTHER ONE, the return to the transmission with a air wheel or tiny pipe cutter [smooth]......insert the new cooler rubber lines there.

It's your car and you must chose a method that suits you.

Yes the metal tee in pipe do confuse some.

Is it BTU or GVW towing rating?

The 70264 is rated 24,000 GVW, but probably won't fit between the condenser and the radiator.

Simple physics you have 10 quarts circulating at 4 quarts per minute.http://tristate.apogee.net/et/evthcal.a ... rd...e.htm

I don't know how to explain it simpler there is an input from and a return line to the transmission [2 TWO metal lines] between the engine and the radiator there is a metal tee that divides [creates] two paths in each metal line.....[4 new lines].........you either work after the tee or cut the metal line before the tee.

Whereas on the earlier models the metal lines just went to the in rad heat exchanger. No second exchanger no filter!

On 91 and 92 and 93 there were various dealer fixes applied to the two metal lines [putting a filter in series etc] not every car has these fixes.

In summer heat don't expect that small coolers will do much because the 100F road air after passing thru AC condenser becomes 130-140F so the delta temp differences and air conductivity is less so say 20F cooler on the output than input depending on engine fan speed and vehicle speed.

After all the engine radiator just drops coolant 15-20F.

I would highly recommend using the external filter, even replacing it if it is over 60K miles, as Q45tech suggests.

Not if you take your cooler feed after the filter.

Again, if you REALLY want to replace the filter, get the kit i mentioned from summit racing.. Then you can replace the filter as often and cheaply as you wanted..

However, Id like someone to inform me, what are the dangers of running without a filter? Big pieces will get caught in the internal screen, the cooler wont get blocked (much bigger passages than stock), and the litlte pieces will get caught by the magnet? What am I missing.

James, it was nice talking to you today. did you get it installed like we talked?

Decreased cooling efficiency and increased wear.

OEM is not concerned about how long your car lasts after it is out of warranty. Hence maintenance costs spike at 100K miles when a car is maintained to the minimal factory standards.

James find out what the thread is and the gasket dia. then find a Master oil filter catalog at your parts store, do a comparison. or just call them and find out if there's a replacement filter and then cross reference that to find a cheap alternative. I've done that for years and saved lotsa $$$$$. E.G. Our new tractor was to be $16 per filter ---down to $3.50! I'd feel better with an inline filter but I just haven't done it. Squeefoo = Lazy

I wonder if the OEM transmission filter filters to a lower size particle tolerance than an oil filter. I have no information, but it makes some sense wi it were more restrictive than an engine oil filter.

It sure is better than none; I think an oil filter is 6-10 microns (?).I can't imagine that you'd want to go lower than that with even cold trans. fluid, cold engine oil is pretty thick. Trans. viscosity is 7-10 @ 100C eng. oil is higher. So I think it would be pretty safe, it's better than mine with just the screen. Come to think of it I have a pleated element on for a filter, Hmmmmmm...
