True that, I LOVE that gen. Galant body style.

All we get in the US are the gross old school ones, and they are pretty rare:

I cant even find the old ones in my area anymore. There is a RHD shell for sale in Orlando i think, but its just so damn ugly.

I mean come on, its like they didnt even try.

I didn't mind the look of that last generation, but there wasn't much to write home about in every other aspect of that car. I think the first gen Eclipse was my favorite, the AWD turbo model was entertaining to drive.

I can't speak for the 4G, but the 3G does have a couple of redeeming qualities. The suspension setup on my GT isn't too bad for being stock and I do think that it's a good looking car. While "fast" is not a word I would ever use to describe it, it is a fairly fun car to drive. All that being said, it is annoyingly finicky. The car is never broken, but something is always starting to break. If I knew back then what I know now, I would have passed on the Eclipse and picked up an S13 with like 50K on the odometer that I had been looking at. In short, I can't say that I'm too surprised and Mitsubishi should have let the Eclipse die gracefully a long time ago.

Maybe once they get their s*** back together, they'll re-introduce it.

I'm surprised they didn't bring the FTO over here, I think it would have been massively popular with the female Eclipse drivers. I did like the G6th and 7th Gen Galants, my only complaint with the 6G Galant that I had was that the only people who could actually do any real work in the engine bay are midgets or people with extraordinarily small hands. I was lucky enough to one of the few 5 speed 6th Gen Galants before some drunk retard caused me to total it. I do still miss that car.

I had a 91 GSX, luckily still a 6 bolt/big rod engine.

One guy I worked with made a quite lasting impression with me.

"The E/T/L are great short term, easily build-able tuner cars. Their longevity sucks."

I actually liked mine most of the time, till the timing belt snapped. Then I got another used engine, and crank/cam angle sensors all went to crap.

I imagine that's part of it. Fiat is NOT happy with Chrysler's JS-platform spinoffs (particularly the Avenger/Sebring/200) and won't likely support it any longer. Fiat is actually so displeased with the Sebring that they considered completely scrapping it after only 3 years, but eventually decided the investment wasn't worth it. Instead, they improved where they could, then changed the name and gave it a new face in hopes that people will forget how horrible it is. I'd be surprised if Chrysler builds anything else using that platform.
